In this episode Lisa Wilson subbed in for Clyde and we welcomed Liz Jennings as our special guest. Liz is our volunteer leader of Longview's Women's Ministry. She shared with us how our ladies are studying God's Word on Wednesdays nights and Sundays. They will also have new studies available in the Spring, as well as one Summer study.

We covered upcoming events: Fall Festival, SENDesoto, Women's Holiday Dinner, Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Sunday, and A Longview Christmas with the Heights and the Point.

Liz and Derrick competed in a friendly game and we highlighted the Pregnancy Care Center in Southaven.

Welcome to Season 1, Episode 3 of the Life at Longview Podcast! Our hosts are Dr. Derrick Wilson, Senior Pastor of Longview Heights Baptist Church and Clyde Bostick. Clyde is one of our deacons and active volunteers in our church family in many areas.

In this episode we were happy to welcome our Children's Ministry Director, Lisa Clark. She shared with us how our children are digging into God's Word on Sundays and Wednesdays and through other activities. She also helped us with our "Upcoming Events" and "Podcast Games" segments.

We also highlighted our Broken Vessels Grief Ministry, and recognized our children's volunteers in this episode.

In Season 1, Episode 2 of the Life at Longview Podcast, our hosts, Bro. Derrick and Clyde welcome special guest, Ryan Gardner, our student pastor.

WHERE IN THE WORD ARE WE SEGMENT

Bro. Derrick filled us in on where we are on Wednesday nights with our "GOD'S BIG STORY" series, which follows along with our daily Bible reading plan.

Ryan gave us an update on student ministry and told us about their Wednesday night series in Ephesians, break out groups, a new student-led worship band, and Sunday afternoon discipleship groups. Students are learning how to read the Bible for themselves and how to listen to the Holy Spirit as they grow in Christ.

UPCOMING EVENTS

We focused on our upcoming "CRUISIN' & CRAFTIN" for a mission event, "NEXT STEPS," for those who are interested in becoming members of Longview, and an event for senior adults called, "OASIS."

MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT

In this episode we highlighted the Memphis Union Mission team and our volunteer team that goes on the 3rd Saturday of each month to minister there. Recently this team provided our Wednesday night meal at Longview and led in our Wednesday night service to give us a look at what they do when they go to serve at the mission.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Ryan recognized Adam Fox in this episode for his dedication to serving both in our youth ministry and in children's ministry. Adam has served as our youth ministry intern for several years now and also teaches 6th grade Sunday School.

In our very first full-length episode, our hosts, Bro. Derrick Wilson and Clyde Bostick discuss where were are in our current sermon series, and our adult Discipleship Groups that are set to begin soon. They play some Bible trivia, and highlight one of our unique ministries in the church family, as well as put a spotlight on some of our faithful volunteers.
