Codependence refers to a pattern of behavior in which a person prioritizes the needs of another person over their own needs, often to their own detriment. This can manifest in various ways, such as enabling the other person's harmful behavior, sacrificing one's own well-being for the other person, and feeling responsible for the other person's happiness or success.

Codependence is often associated with relationships involving addiction, but it can occur in any type of relationship where there is an imbalance of power or a lack of healthy boundaries. Codependent individuals may have low self-esteem, difficulty asserting themselves, and a tendency to avoid conflict.

Codependence can be addressed through therapy and developing healthy boundaries, self-care practices, and a sense of self-worth. It is important to recognize that codependence is not a healthy way of relating to others, and that prioritizing one's own well-being is essential for a fulfilling life.
