BOLD CONVICTIONS
Sunday, November 1, 2020
Daniel prophecies about the age in which we live and talks about how the enemy will wear out the saints. That refers to persecution, or a chiseling away, until they surrender.
How should we live in this present world?
Daniel 3:16-18
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego had a conviction about worship and refused to surrender to the pressure to worship anyone or anything other than the one true God.
Daniel 6:10
Daniel had a conviction about prayer. It wasn’t a small thing, it was a big deal. He had a place. He had a time. He had a routine.
Daniel 6:10
The word “conviction” is a bit of an archaic word. We now have words like tolerance, compromise, and cultural norms, so let’s clarify - What is a conviction?
Guardrails - They keep us aware of the danger.
Identity - They keep us remind of who we are.
Strength - They give us courage to stand in the face of sin and evil.
Roots - They hold you steady in the face of the adversity.
Ephesians 4:11-15
The duty of the five-fold ministry team here at Life Chapel is to equip you so that you can build up and maintain convictions (understand what you believe and why).
What do I need to do to develop and maintain bold convictions?
In Acts 4 we find a few key elements of HOW we develop boldness:
Acts 4:8 - Be filled with the Holy Spirit
Acts 4:13 - Spend time with Jesus and you will see and hear
Acts 4:19 - Walk in radical obedience to the voice of the Lord
Acts 4:29 - Declare your boldness
Acts 4:31 - Pray
