Life Church Livonia

In this past year we have seen the dark side of humanity on display, and it has left many of us feeling hopeless. The pressures of COVID, the 2020 election, social isolation, racial violence and the normal stresses of life have brought out the worst in most of us. It has left us thinking, “there has got to be a better way”. A better way to communicate. A better way to work through differences. A better way to do relationships. A better way to discern truth. A better way to be human.

The good news is that there is a better way…there’s a new way to be human. In the Sermon in the Mount, Jesus lays out the blueprint for how we are meant to do life alone, together and with Him. He doesn’t just give us a better way, but a new way to be human.

Join us as we walk through the Sermon on the Mount as we learn how to flourish as the people God created us to be.

Alex and Alex look at how the word Jesus uses for righteousness becomes the anchor point for understanding anger, sex, lust, commitment and how human beings relate to each other in a way that can truly be described as good.

So much discipleship in following Jesus happens along the way. It's often not any particular sermon, event, conference or study that transforms us, but is the conversations we have surrounding those things along the way.  Discipleship happens on the journey, not at any particular destination. This podcast is a place where we can have deeper conversations about scripture, theology, philosophy and be formed along the way. Join us as we dive deeper into the scriptures and topics our church is studying by interviewing teachers, preachers, experts and companions on the journey.

Kate and Alex talk about the beginning of the sermon on the mount: the beatitudes.  They go over why Jesus is on this "mountain", and what different pockets of the beatitudes meant and mean for us today.

Alex and Alex talk about the gospel of the kingdom of heaven, and how that's a little different, but deeply connected to the gospel of salvation.  Jesus said "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
