Following South Africa’s recent downgrade by Moody’s the former CEO of Business Leadership South Africa has penned an opinion piece, sharing what according to him, needs to be done as a country to address this.
Part of his recommendations are the “ We must urgently embark on much needed and long overdue massive structural economic reforms and thereby send.
We must drastically reduce the bloated public sector wage bill and thereby change the current dismal narrative about South Africa and annul fears that a Moody’s downgrade is a death sentence. We must charge the top state capture miscreants.”

South African National Defence force (SANDF) has been criticized for the methods they have used in enforcing lockdown. Footage has emerged of SAPS and SANDF members seemingly punishing residents for breaking the lockdown laws. Some of the punishment included pushups and squats. Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said in a statement that the department had noted allegations of abuse by members of the defence force.
She said a message was sent by President Cyril Ramaphosa – the commander-in-chief of the SANDF – warning the soldiers that they should not use excessive force.
