Uyinene was known to be inquisitive, forthright and vocal about the various social ills which plague our society – including patriarchal oppression and issues of gender-based violence. It is for this reason that this Foundation's main aim is to empower young people to stand against violence.Our mission is to equip the youth that will become positive agents of change in their respective communities.
The Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation (UMF) was founded in celebration of the life of Uyinene Mrwetyana. They aim to continue raising awareness about Gender Based Violence (GBV) even during the lockdown period, as some people are more vulnerable now, stuck in their homes with perpetrators of GBV.
