It has been reported that the government had assisted just 10,000 businesses, a fraction of the 700,000 promised by President Cyril Ramaphosa in April. Of the roughly 40,000 businesses that had applied for assistance, only 23% had been granted loan relief by government – which is 1.3% of the number promised.
