Genesis 2:7 NIV

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Paul speaks of the soul as naked without the body:

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal housein heaven, not built by human hands.

THE VALUE OF YOUR SOUL

Mark 8:35-38 NIV

35] For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.

36] What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

37] Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?

38] If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels.”
