Jake Bertelsen.Hello everybody, today we've got Jake Bertelsen. Jake is probably the most intentional, most positive, most self motivated person I've ever met. I've got the great fortune to know Jake for almost exactly a year now and spending approximately 65 hours sitting face to face with him. Jake is a world class tattoo artist but he's got a story of grind, a story of grit, a very positive story of changing the way things are. Jake's has had a huge impact in the Whitefish community, is born and raised there, and he still resides there. This is actually a kind of full circle life story that comes into play as this podcast rolls out. Jake’s a person who's come from one spectrum to the other. If the definition of success was to measure where somebody starts and where they currently are, Jake has got the biggest spread of anybody that I know. From being on the edge of suicide’s doorstep, or I guess one car swing away from suicide, to changing the lives of almost every person that he meets in a very positive way, I can't think of anybody who does it better than Jake. Jake's got an incredible family and probably the best father that I've ever met. His 4 kids and wife Kelly are amazing and we had the great fortune to have them come spend some time in our house, spend the night and stay up late having good conversations, go to dinner, and we just love them. They’re great, they're such good people. When it comes to outliers, I kind of always want to know what's the story there but as a normal tattoo artist you know Jake's covered in tattoos. He rolls around in a badass Tesla and big ass trucks and has nice toys and stuff but it all comes so humble with Jake. I think he'd be a great influence for anybody to meet. This conversation was incredible and we did 3.5 hours, it's really meaty, there’s a lot of self reflection, self help, a lot of stories on how this kind of came to be for Jake. So hang on it's a good one and I can't wait to have Jake back. He’ll have to be a recurring guest because he's got stories and new things always evolving, from cold exposure to how he handles his fitness. Jake is incredible person , so dive in and enjoy yourself. Thanks!

Cal Arnold. Cal Arnold is a guy wanted to talk to for years now. I got to know I'm a few years back during winter archery league, and I then got to sit through a couple Aviation Ground Schools with him and he was always that guy that rolled in little bit late, hair frazzled, and flip flops. You’re like, “Dude, what does this guy do?” and you kind of wouldn't know. Then I shot with him again and winter archery league and it was kinda always implied that he was getting back from Hawaii or he had been hiking the backcountry doing big powder-lines on his skis. Cal then ended up getting his private pilot's license and buying a badass Cessna 180 that I was kind of in a battle with him over trying to pick up, but he ended up getting it and then unfortunately crashed it. He talks about his very serious health issues but his outlook is extremely positive and its motivating to be around how positive his perspective is. He's the kind of person who quite literally won't let anything come between him and his aspirations and it's clear in his business. We really dive into where he came from, out in Minnesota, how he views life, and how he's gained the perspective he has. He runs a very very successful business here, very tight with his family. Cal’s like the valuable people in life that I feel like everybody needs to draw something from. I mean, more than something from. Cal’s an incredible human dive in and I’m really fortunate to know him and I hope you guy’s really dive in and Listen. We had a good time and we're going to do it again soon! Enjoy.

The Life In Full podcast. These are stories of the quiet, confident, credible, humble, and approachable people, who for the most part, remain unknown. These are people who have a conscious intention in their own pursuits. I want to know their why, what equation in life built them, and unwind that common thread in these people who have that unidentifiable thing that makes them the outliers, while hearing about their lives lived in full.
The Life In Full podcast is a deep dive into the mind of interesting people, their struggles and triumphs, upbringing, accomplishments, and what life events have impacted how they've developed into the people they are today.

Matt Clyde. Matt Clyde is a guy that if I was in the hunting industry, I would look up to. Matt’s not even in the hunting industry though. Matt is an absolute killer , I think maybe people in the industry do look up to him as an elite, I think if you were to whisper Matt’s name, everybody in the industry knows who he is. People may know him from killing the wolf on Randy Newberg’s show, probably 2012-13 ish. Matt’s hunting stories could probably go on for days, I’ll have to pass him off to Cody and I get them on The Rich Outdoors podcast. I’d love to listen to that on. I wanted to dive into Matt's perspectives and it was incredible. Matt shares a lot about growing up as an adopted child and then ended up meeting his birth mother and then his birth father, and that's an incredible story. Then Matt dives into the story of adopting kids of his own as well as kind of the dynamic with his own biological kids. I’ve interacted with Matt the backcountry. My buddy James and I killed an elk one time and Matt text me and watch the whole thing, he said “stay put, I’ll have my boys up there.” They helped me pack it down the whole mountain. So it was pretty cool. Matt’s a stud, I love this dude, he's so freaking cool and so committed. Man if there was more Matt Clyde’s in this world, it would be a better place no doubt. Matt’s sons are absolute backcountry killing machines and I cannot look wait, and look forward to watching them develop into backcountry elites themselves. So hang on, this is a great one. It goes into a lot of life stuff, but man it gets deep and it's really good, so enjoy!

Cody Rich. Cody's most famously known for his hunting podcast, The Rich Outdoors, a very successful and really good podcast. I suggest if you are looking for some good hunting stories, head that direction. It’s good stuff and I listen almost daily if I can. Cody has a background in motocross, so we hit a chord when we met, so it was like that scene from Step Brothers, but he's also got a very interesting background in simulated military training that I had no clue about.
We talk a lot about his serial entrepreneur path. He’s a guru in whatever that he looks into. Cody and I talk about the stock market weekly, if not daily. He’s guilty of getting me involved in, what has now almost developed into day trading, but we bounce business ideas off each other constantly. Cody and I have a great conversation about his family dynamics growing up and try to solve all the worlds problems by injecting a little bit more Redneck into most people. But in all seriousness, Cody and I uncover a lot of his upbringing and the things that happened to make him into who he is. We kind of try to work through some of those things with a bottle of Maker's Mark, and get into a lot of good stuff.
Cody is a very credible human being in every sense. He’s a great new father and family man and it’s super fun to see him and Kelsey raise their two boys. Dive into this one, it’s a good three hours and gets a little slurry at the end, but man is good time!

Koni Dole. Koni Dole. He’s the MSU football player who ran onto the field a prosthetic leg. He’s the Home-Town hero of Huntley Project where him and his siblings were raised with that small town wherewithal that you get in small-town kids. I became really close buddies with Kong’s brother Kai and got to listen to stories of him growing up with Koni and getting into all the trouble they got into and the good times the've had. Kai would always speak of him, and light up with such endearment, that always left me hanging and I wanting to know more. I had the opportunity to work out with Koni when he came to our gym there for a while. On the first day, he proceeded to mop the floor with me with a 345 lb deadlift. Mind you, he’s got one leg! It’s really not Koni’s one leg that makes him special. Koni and Kai are some of the happiest and most grateful people that I have ever met and we really get into where that comes from, as well as Koni's time spent with an organization called a NubAbility that instructs, inspires, and motivate kids who have either congenital or tragic amputations and really pushes that youth demographic to compete in mainstream sports. Koni is an incredible human and I'd hope that everybody kind of has a chance to meet him someday. If if you ever get the opportunity to, I highly suggest you extend a hand and shake it and talk to him. He’d be happy to talk to you and he's one of those people that can light up anybody's day. He’s an incredible person, I really hope you guys enjoy this!
