Life in Stride

On this episode, the boyz announce Cheston’s departure from the pod. Cheston explains best on the episode, but he has so much going on in life right now and wants to maximize his time with his family! We will obviously still continue training with Cheston, but he will be greatly missed on the pod. Don’t worry - we will still get Cheston on periodically and the pod will move forward with Danny, Scotty and Chris!

Sooooo…. this little thing called the Chicago Marathon is next weekend. ALL THE BOYZ are running! We are so pumped. Listen as we all break down our final thoughts and plans going into Chicago Marathon 2024.

On this episode, the boyz had on special guest Brad Pierce! Brad is an elite triathlete but he is currently training for the Chicago Marathon. He also happens to be a training partner of ours and has shared a lot of miles with Cheston throughout the block!

Brad brings a unique perspective to his marathon training, which we discussed on this episode. While his weekly run mileage is fairly low, he is using other training methods to get a lot of his weekly aerobic work in. We also got to learn about what changes Brad made to go from average to high-level triathlete.

We didn’t have Brad on just to talk about endurance sport though. Since high school, he has been starting businesses and learning a lot in the process. We talk about his business journey so far, what he is up to now, and get some actionable advice for any young entrepreneurs out there.

On this episode, the boyz had on special guest Abby Petter! Abby is a local Louisville friend of ours and is one of the best female Masters runners in the state with a very impressive 2:58 marathon PR from Chicago 2023. You will often see her in our Saturday morning long run group in Louisville!

Abby’s story isn’t just running though. You will learn more in the podcast, but she has an extremely demanding career and is married with 3 kids! Her life embodies the purpose of this podcast, trying to get the best out of ourselves running while balancing all other things in life such as family and work.

We also got into some mental health discussion that we hope will resonate with some listeners out there!

Yes, it’s here. Episode 69! For this one, the boyz had to get a huge guest and we came through for you with Dominic Schlueter, the host of “The Running Effect” podcast.

Dominic is an extremely impressive 19 year old. In 8th grade, he first thought of creating “The Running Effect,” and by the time he finished high school had established himself as a very serious player in the running content scene. He has built a massive following not only on his podcast, but also on social media. He has partnered with major running brands such as Brooks and Maurten, and he also promotes different meets and running events across the country.

We talked about the creation of the podcast, some of his most memorable interviews, and what’s next for Dominic. We also discussed his own running journey and got to learn a lot about his philosophy on life that has driven him to be so successful at such an early age.

Right when we hopped on and started chatting before we hit record we knew this would be an awesome episode, and it truly was. Enjoy!

On this episode, the boyz had on special guest Adam Popp! To get more background on Adam, check out our first episode with him where we talk about his journey from getting his leg amputated above the knee due to an IED in Afghanistan to now being a record setting para athlete.

On this episode, we started off by recapping Adam’s latest race where he broke 3 in the marathon for the first time! We also talked about his record-setting last year as a whole which has included several Guiness World Records.

Adam also publicly shared for the first time his next event, which will be a 24-hour treadmill run in New York City! This event will highlight all of the people and organizations that have gotten him where he is today.

Finally, we discussed some mental tips and tricks for all of you running fall marathons this year!

On this episode, the boyz had on special guest Tracy Edgerton! Tracy is a Louisville-based runner who co-founded KorfEdge Running Group with Mike Korfhage! For context, this is the group the boyz meet with on Saturdays for long run.

Tracy has been running for a long time and his motto is “Encourage and Inspire.” He has coached athletes of all ages in the Louisville area and if he isn’t in a race he is always there cheering on his friends. The Louisville running community wouldn’t be as great as it is now without Tracy!

Tracy is a Boston qualifier and ran the race for the first time in the Fall of 2021. He is currently 39 states in on his journey to finish a marathon in all 50 states!

Tracy has a contagious positive attitude and wisdom for runners of all ages and ability levels. We really enjoyed this one and think you will too!

Peter is a gifted writer, and is well-known for his essays because his passion and love for running comes through in the writing and is relatable to all runners. In his collection, which is linked below, you will find essays about topics such as his love for the marathon, inspiring stories about other athletes, and his journey of attemtping to OTQ which ended in several near misses.

You may know Nico already through his content. He has a lot of popular short-form videos about food and running, but lately he has been diving into more long-form video, which we talk about on this episode.

We also discussed Nico’s running journey. He has run 3 marathons since starting to run just a few years ago, and recently ran 2:52 at the Eugene Marathon. He has an awesome documentary about the race on his YouTube channel.

In this episode, the boyz give training updates on their Chicago Marathon blocks and also talk about the future of Life In Stride!
