This week's episode features a very special guest, my sister Alexandra Day. She is a highly trained and experienced therapist who specializes in addiction/substance abuse and holds a masters degree in clinical psychology from Loyola University in Maryland. She currently works at a Joint Commission accredited alcohol and rehab facility in the northeast region of Florida where she conducts both group and one-on-one therapy sessions with her patients.
She has witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of the lockdowns, mandates and illegal measures relating to the covid-19 pandemic--even in the free state of Florida. Alcohol and drug abuse rates have skyrocketed. Fentanyl use is at an all time high in this country. The mask mandates, lockdowns, fear and isolation of the last almost 2 years have pushed Alex's patients and others to a dangerous limit.
In this episode, we explore how the "cure" is in this case worse than the disease itself and how it has negatively impacted an already marginalized group of patients.
