How do you entertain the world with your fiction? That's a question I've been asking myself since I launched WantedHero.c

We did it--a whole season!
Ahhhh, what a challenge to do a podcast when the whole house is ill--AND in the beginning of the recording, my daughter had to be rushed to the emergency room by her mother.
That meant me and Simon had Ruby with us (my youngest--only 2 yrs old). Also ill, running nose, but she's been sleeping all day and now had a shiny new microphone sitting in reach.
We've learned a lot from this season of Life of Fiction. The format, when and how to record episodes, the story arc we'd like to use--and the music for intros/outros.
Have a listen, and know that we are having fun--including Ruby here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CYndT91rEjM/
We will see you soon for Season Two!!
Happy New Year!
Hope you had a wonderful holiday, because the Buckley's had the whole tribe together, loving each other and rolling in candy and food...(we locked the scales away until the new year).
Today I'm without Simon, who is prepping for school, so I wanted to share something I've been thinking about for a while. Something I feel is life altering, and for those of you who are writing--this will be something that can assist you in experiencing success sooner than you might think.
So grab a pen and paper, a cup of coffee, a soda, or even a cup of tea--and listen to my cold-drenched voice reveal some hard won wisdom.
You're welcome.
I'm going to teach Simon how to run this show--I swear I will. No matter how long it takes, he'll get it eventually.
Today I've asked my son to take over and continue explaining the Dragon's Chasm--going over the Clodorius, the Cloud Canopy, Nock Shelves, Mid Climb, Debris Shelves, and Canyon Floor.
I'm excited to have this conversation, as I know you are. So sit back, enjoy a coffee and make sure to jot down the questions you have.

Your fictional work WILL require some form of worldbuilding.
When creating Wanted Hero and Chronicles of a Hero, I was focused on creating a world so vest and detailed that I could spend the rest of my professional career building it and sharing it with readers. Which is amazing, because when I chat with teens in public, most want to talk worldbuilding and what my personal system is for crafting my fictional world.

Today Simon and I delve into worldbuilding again (finally!!). Yes, there's SO much to share about WantedHero, but I asked my son to go over the dynamic creation that he's been creating for over a year...
The Dragon's Chasm.
I get to say, right here--that Simon is brilliant. He doesn't have access to the metadata of the show, so he can't stop me...neener.
Sit back, pop a pop,...and enjoy the complicated explanations Simon gives to feed your imagination and demonstrates how powerful worldbuilding can be.
Have a listen and make sure to send Simon and I questions, if you have any. Questions can be about anything at all, especially aspects of worldbuilding you'd like us to cover.

Its TEN days left to Christmas!!
It never fails to amazing me, how many opinions are out there on writing and publishing. Get ten people in a room and you’ll likely walk away with 22 opinions.
Crazy.
What bugs me though, is people pushing products and platforms like there’s only one way to do things, and I don’t just mean every Tom, Dick, and Buford here, but people with real influence. People trying to get writers to buy ‘stuff’ (cause I don’t think there’s a better word for it).
So here I am, Jaime Buckley, old, irritating fiction writer that I am, to serve up my own opinion, mostly so I can sleep better at night, but also so you don’ have to stress…or waste your money.
There’s no need.
I’d like to share the ‘truth’ (translation: my own 112.4% biased opinion) and then share what I personally use myself, and WHY.
Now, to be clear here, I’m not talking about the method of writing. That’s not in the scope of this article. I’m specifically talking about your process (worldbuilding) and what you do when you have the contents of a book.
This is about TOOLS.
So let me do the honor and simplify what you DO need to both write AND sell a book—because I’ll always assume you’ll want to make money.
The details will be in the show notes, with links to everything, so you can check out the resources for yourself. You can find them right here.

Today’s a rough day. An emotional day.
REFUSE!
I have children to raise, a wife to love, grandchildren to adore, and a fictional world to build into an epic world success.
In this episode, I want to sow you that NOW is the perfect time to write your book...and I'm going to explain WHY.

Every fictional work requires some form of worldbuilding. I'd also tell any teen who would listen, that in my opinion, worldbuilding is THE #1 most important core skill to develop if you want to craft a story that will grip a readers attention and keep it.

Today Simon and I delve into the subject of worldbuilding, which is a vast topic, and one we will go over in detail over time--sharing my own techniques--and also share some materials from my best-selling book 'Advanced Worldbuilding'...which was encouraged by David Farland.
Have a listen and make sure to send Simon and I questions, if you have any. Questions can be about anything at all, especially aspects of worldbuilding you'd like us to cover.

Well, my son Simon and I were able to take part in the American Fork Indie Author Day last Saturday.
It was very enjoyable and I must say, insightful in many respects. Though the library didn't have as many teens show up as I'd hoped, my true intent was to be there, have a new experience, and mix with 'my people'. Yes, I wanted to meet readers of Chronicles of a Hero, which I did--and thank you for traveling so far to see me, you beautiful people--but I hoped to learn something new.
I did.
After all the conversations, and directing my attention at every child that passed my table--I learned that it'll always be a teen that walks up, gives me a smile, and does a sudden Karate chop to my plans. After the whole event passed, it was a teen girl who approached me, gave me a smile and with her mother and grandmother standing there...showed me how this podcast is lacking.
Ouch.
So sit back, have a Sugar Free Dr Pepper with me and Simon and enjoy today's episode of Life of Fiction.
P.S. Check out the show notes---I uploaded a set of pictures from the event. You might enjoy them 😃
TA.
Finally got the popper working so I could communicate with Höbin. Wouldn't you know it--the problem was solved by something as simple as a little blue button?
Gnomes.
Anyway--we received a questions from one of our new readers from Russia, who was curious about Wendell.
Höbin goes to the WantedHero.com database he's been building for the initial part if the answer, and I share the reasoning behind our heroes creation.
Due to some medical concerns, I volunteered to take over for Jaime today.
I thought it wise for us to have a little time alone--get a few things out in the open, so we have a clear understanding. Oh, don't worry--you're not in trouble, I just want to have a word with you. Clarify anything that may have been befuddled by Jaime in the previous podcasts.
