Today NCAA superstar and NOVUS Clothing Company athlete Joe Girard III of the Syracuse Orange joins the show to discuss his hoops journey, life in the ACC, and making a positive impact in the community.  As a hometown hero in the 518, JG3 has been a household name for quite some time dating back to his high school days where he became the NY State Basketball all time leading scorer and then went on to win state titles on the court and gridiron for Glens Falls.  In this episode I sit down and talk with Joe who is a premier NOVUS athlete, continuing to claim his crown both on and off the court.  Now, as a senior leader for the Orange, JG3 is ready to light up the Carrier Dome once again for the CUSE this coming season.  Joe has demonstrated that by using his platform to make a lasting impact in his hometown and beyond that life is about living out his motto "Be Different." Throughout his time on earth there were many important things Jesus said and did.  However, the gift our Lord gave of himself, namely his body and his blood the night before he took on the Cross is the greatest fulfillment of that promise for Resurrection that we celebrate as a Church. During the last supper, essentially the first ever mass, Jesus Christ laid out the beautiful foundation of our holy Catholic faith. Through the breaking of the bread (his body) and drinking of wine (his blood) with the apostles, Christ gave his entire being to us.  Jesus was explicit and told us to take his body and to eat it and to drink his blood so that we could receive eternal life. Our Lord commanded us to celebrate this again and again so we are filled with something far greater than physical food.  By taking part in his Communion we receive soul filled nourishment for our spiritual journey.  Today we discuss Jesus as the true bread of life and how by receiving the Eucharist, we become a living tabernacle of the Lord.

Today we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday, reflecting on God's merciful love in our lives along the road of faith that is provided through the cross and resurrection of Christ.  Throughout our journey, we each need mercy which comes in the form of forgiveness, grace, and patience.  As we reflect upon scripture and how Thomas doubted, yet he was invited back into the fold with Jesus showing up in his life, may we too understand that we are never void of God's merciful love. During this episode I give a brief history of Divine Mercy Sunday and Jesus' powerful encounter with St. Faustina Kowalska.  We also share in the countless examples throughout the Gospels where Christ's mercy heals others, he reaches out to those on the margins, and pours out his endless love.  Jesus sees the beauty in the soul of each person he encounters and he is calling each of us to holiness so we might become more like him.

Holy Thursday has great importance as Jesus breaks bread for the last time on the night of the Last Supper with his apostles.  On today's episode we discuss the significance of this final meal, the power of Good Friday as Jesus enters willingly into his passion, and the ultimate act of love he shares for us by dying on the Cross.  Through this Holy week God asks us to enter more deeply into these next four days with an open mind and heart so that we can draw closer to him.  This invitation will help us prepare for the resurrection on Easter as our Lord conquered sin & death once and for all leading us to the heart of the Father.  Journey with Jesus and with me as we gear up for his passion, death, and resurrection.  Jesus is calling us to be those disciples that carry out his light in the world!
