This week on The Walk, worship leader and Christian artist Magen Thurman shares a powerful and deeply personal testimony of surrender, identity, and rediscovering the voice of God in the wilderness.
After years of leading worship and raising a family, Magen stepped away from recording—only to be called back in 2025 with a renewed fire and a deeper understanding of what it truly means to walk with Jesus. Through heartbreak, spiritual warfare, and wilderness seasons, she learned to worship not from the stage, but from the floor of her living room.

Throughout Scripture, God communicates in many ways because He desires a relationship with us. In the birth story of Jesus, we see God speaking clearly through angels, the Holy Spirit, dreams, and divine confirmation—all working together to reveal His redemptive plan.
In today’s episode, we explore how God speaks in the Bible and what the Christmas story teaches us about hearing God’s voice today. By examining these moments surrounding Christ’s birth, we’re reminded that God still speaks with purpose, clarity, and love—and He invites us to listen with faith and expectancy.

In today’s episode, Dr. Henry Cloud, clinical psychologist and bestselling author joins Dr. Zach for a deep dive into one of the most important dynamics in every relationship: trust. Dr. Cloud blends Scripture, neuroscience, and decades of clinical experience to explain how trust can be built, broken, and restored. He breaks down the core ingredients that make a person trustworthy, the signs that someone may be unsafe, and the process of rebuilding trust after betrayal. Dr. Cloud also addresses how to set healthy boundaries without shutting people out, why trust is both emotional and spiritual, and how to discern when to give someone another chance or when to walk away with wisdom and peace.

Today’s Bible Verse: “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord has said to her would be acomplished! - Luke 1:45
Luke 1:45 captures the quiet power of faith that trusts God’s promises before they are fulfilled. Spoken over Mary during the Christmas story, this verse reminds us that belief isn’t passive optimism—it’s active trust in a faithful God whose word never fails. Advent invites us into the same posture Mary embraced: surrendering our expectations and choosing faith, even when the outcome is still unseen.

A Prayer for True Joy at Christmas by Gina L. Smith
Christmas lights are beginning to glow—on rooftops, around trees, in windows—quiet reminders that joy has come. Yet for many, this season doesn’t automatically feel joyful.In today's episode, we explore this very real human experience, God sent light. Not a distraction or a seasonal escape, but a person. Jesus stepped into the darkness of our world—and into the dark places of our lives—bringing a joy that is not fragile, forced, or fake. Joy is not something we manufacture; joy is a person. Joy is Jesus.
Reference: John 1:5
Prayer: Father, thank you for stepping into our darkness to bring everlasting joy. Thank you that your presence is light, unchanging, unfading, unstoppable. Help me not to chase temporary happiness, but to cling to you, my joy and my hope. Amen.

Meditation Scripture: Psalm 16:8–11 (NIV)
8 I keep my eyes always on the LORD.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
