Today’s Bible Verse:
"Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!" — Isaiah 30:18
Isaiah 30:18 reminds us that God is not only just but deeply compassionate. Even when we face delays, difficulties, or unanswered prayers, His desire is to show grace. Waiting on Him is not passive—it’s a posture of faith that positions us to receive His blessings fully.

A Prayer to Take Off the Costume by Nicolet Bell
In this episode by Nicolet Bell reflects on the truth that nothing is hidden from God. Just as children wear costumes to pretend to be someone else, we often try to cover up parts of ourselves—our sin, our shame, or our struggles. Yet God sees everything, and still, He loves us completely. This truth brings both conviction and comfort: conviction to confess and turn toward Him, and comfort that we are fully known and still fully loved
Reference: Hebrews 4:13
Prayer: Father, remind me that I don’t have to cover up or put on a costume to come into your presence. I thank you that you see everything, nothing is hidden from you and you love me anyway. Help me to lead my children with honesty, inviting a culture of openness into our home, even when it is a challenge. Allow my children to know the depths of your love - that you see all and you love all. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What gives someone the courage to stand up for truth—even when it costs them everything? Martin Luther’s bold stand for the Gospel wasn’t born from rebellion but from revelation. Rooted in Ephesians 2:8, his discovery that salvation comes by grace through faith ignited a movement that changed history. Having the heart of a reformer means loving God, loving His Church, and being unwilling to compromise the truth of Scripture—no matter the consequences.
Highlights
A reformer’s heart begins with a deep passion to draw close to God and live by His Word.
Luther’s relentless study of Scripture led him to uncover the truth of salvation by grace, not works.
True reformers love the Church enough to seek its correction, not its destruction.
Luther’s bold action—nailing his 95 Theses—sparked a spiritual awakening that shaped Christianity.
Sharing the truth requires courage, humility, and a willingness to face rejection.
Luther’s legacy reminds us that faithfulness to God’s Word outweighs fear of man.
Every believer is called to carry that same conviction—to speak truth in love and protect the purity of the Gospel.

What Does It Take to Have the Heart of a Reformer?
By Lynette Kittle
Bible Reading:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” - Ephesians 2:8
On Reformation Day, our hearts are filled with deep gratitude for the life of Martin Luther, for his unwavering faith and commitment to the truth of God’s Word.
But what did it take for Luther to have the heart of a reformer? It wasn’t his life goal or that he set out to become one. Yet in discovering the truth in God’s word that we’re saved by grace and not by works, he couldn’t keep silent.
8 Characteristics of a Reformer’s Heart
So what did it take for Luther to have the heart of a reformer? The following are eight characteristics found in his life.
Reformation Day, celebrated on October 31st, marks one of the most transformative moments in church history — the day Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany, in 1517. In today's prayer and devotional, we reflect on the fact that though Luther never sought to divide the Church, his bold stand for truth and his devotion to Scripture became a catalyst for reformation and renewal across the Christian world.
As Lynette Kittle reflects, Luther wasn’t a rebel or revolutionary — he was a truth seeker who rediscovered the heart of the Gospel: we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8). His translation of the Bible into German opened the Word of God to everyday people, making Scripture accessible to all who longed to know God personally.
Today, we commemorate Reformation Day not only as a historic event but as a call to continue valuing God’s Word above all else. Scripture is living and active — teaching, correcting, and equipping us for righteousness. Let us be inspired by Luther’s example to study God’s Word deeply and boldly share the Good News of salvation by grace alone.
Today's Bible Reading:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16
Takeaway Truths
The Reformation reminds us that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone.
Scripture is God-breathed and powerful for teaching and transformation.
Every believer is called to know and share God’s truth with others.
Let’s Pray
Dear Father,
Today, on Reformation Day, we thank You for raising up Martin Luther and for revealing the truth of Your Word through him. Thank You for reminding us that salvation is a free gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ — not earned by works, but received through belief.
Help us to treasure the Scriptures and to live by their truth. May we, too, be bold in proclaiming the Gospel, sharing Your light in a world that desperately needs it.
Thank You for Your Word that teaches, corrects, and equips us for every good work. May we walk in Your truth with grateful hearts.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have you ever celebrated someone’s success while quietly wondering, “Why not me, Lord?” In our nightly prayer and devotional, that’s where Tracie Miles once found herself — sitting in her car after lunch with a friend who had just shared joyful news. Though she was genuinely happy for her friend, she also felt the sting of unfulfilled dreams and long delays.
In Romans 12:15, God calls us to “rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” It sounds simple until our emotions complicate it. Rejoicing when someone else receives what you’ve prayed for can be one of the hardest acts of obedience. Yet this verse challenges us to love beyond comparison, to celebrate beyond envy, and to sit compassionately with others in both their joy and sorrow.
God doesn’t ask us to ignore our own disappointments — He invites us to bring them to Him honestly. The Holy Spirit reminds us that it’s possible to grieve your delay and still celebrate someone else’s breakthrough. His blessings are not limited or reduced by what He gives others. Our waiting season doesn’t mean we’ve been forgotten; it means God is still preparing our hearts for His perfect timing.
When we learn to celebrate others freely, our hearts become lighter and more open to the work God is doing in us. And often, it’s in the moments we let go of comparison that God surprises us with His goodness — in His way, and in His time.
TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”
— Romans 12:15 (NIV)

You can celebrate someone’s success while still waiting for your own breakthrough.
God’s blessings aren’t limited — His timing is perfect for every story.
True love chooses connection over comparison, empathy over envy.
Learning to celebrate others prepares your heart for what God is preparing for you.

YOUR EVENING PRAYER
Dear Lord,
You know how hard it can be to rejoice when I feel left behind, or to mourn when I don’t know what to say. Grow in me a heart that reflects Your love — one not ruled by comparison or fear. Teach me to celebrate others freely and comfort others with compassion. Help me remember that You
