Today’s Bible Verse:
"The king of Israel answered, 'There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me. — 1 Kings 22:8
This verse exposes a timeless tension—our struggle with truth when it challenges our comfort. King Ahab rejected Micaiah’s prophecy because it wasn’t what he wanted to hear, even though it was what he needed to hear. In the same way, God’s truth often confronts us before it transforms us.

A Prayer to Finish
In a culture that often prizes speed and instant results, what if we chose to slow down, stay focused, and trust God to bring His work in us to completion.
In today's prayer by Nicolet Bell,we look at the story of Solomon completing the temple — a dream that began in the heart of his father, King David. Though David longed to build a dwelling place for God, the Lord chose Solomon to carry out the task. Instead of being resentful, David prepared his son for success by gathering materials, providing detailed plans, and encouraging him to serve God with an undivided heart.
Reference: 1 Kings 6:14
Prayer: Father, I thank you for the example of Solomon to show us what hard work and perseverance looks like. His commitment to begin and finish a task, his assignment from you is an incredible witness to us. Help us to stay focused on the tasks you have given us. Guard us from distractions and sluggishness. I am confident that you who began a good work in me will carry it out to completion.

Lauren Fletcher reflects on a season of unexpected challenges—unmet career goals, personal setbacks, and the responsibility of caring for her mother and grandmother. Drawing from Romans 8:28, this devotional reminds believers that God works all things together for good, even when life seems off-track, showing that His timing and purposes are perfect.
Highlights
Life may not align with our personal plans, but God’s purposes are always at work.
Unexpected seasons can provide opportunities to serve, care, and grow spiritually.
Trusting God’s timing allows us to see His provision even in difficult circumstances.
Psalm 139:16 reassures us that every moment of our lives is already known and held by God.
What may feel like disappointment can be part of a larger, “brutiful” (brutal yet beautiful) plan.

Right Where I Was Supposed to Be
By Lauren Fletcher
Bible Reading:
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” - Romans 8:28
It was not the season I had always dreamt about. A quiet room, tears streaming down my face, no job or husband — this was not my ideal year.
I had been seeing a counselor for several months, and she was encouraging me to apply for jobs. I would get excited, think about where I’d like to apply, and then something would get me off track. Whether emotions, circumstances, or big life events changed things, I was not doing what I was “supposed to” be doing. I was not living the independent adult life that we both thought I should be living.
There is a verse in Proverbs that I have thought about recently: “We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps” (Proverbs 16:9). Though I had been making plans for the future, hoping that I would have a job and get back “on track,” when things seemed to fall through, I realized God had other—perfect—plans.
That year, my mother broke her arm. I cared for her and helped her through the weeks she was unable to care for herself physically. It was a growing time in our relationship dynamic, and she was also able to be more present, as I’d just gotten divorced and needed the emotional support.
Months later, my grandmother became ill. With late nights in the ER, days of waiting in hospital rooms for a physician’s report, eating cafeteria food on t
This guided Christian meditation is an imaginative prayer on Luke 19:1–10. Together, we’ll pause for Scripture meditation and reflection, entering the story of Zacchaeus and experiencing the transforming love of Jesus.
Step Eight of the 12 Steps says: We made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
It’s not easy to admit the ways we’ve caused harm — especially when it feels easier to remember how others have hurt us. But this step invites us to own what’s ours, and to ask God for the willingness to make things right.
In this meditation, we’ll reflect on the story of Zacchaeus, a corrupt tax collector. We’ll enter the scene through imaginative prayer — first as one of the townspeople and then as Zacchaeus himself.
As you listen, you’ll be invited to ask God to guide you toward the next gentle step He is inviting you to take.
Take a deep breath and join me in this amazing grace-filled story.

Meditation Passage:
Luke 19:1–10 (NLT)
Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town. There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way.
When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.”
Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. But the people were displeased. “He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they grumbled.
Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!” Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”
