A Prayer to Be Weak
May we be moms who see weakness not as failure, but as an opportunity for God’s power to shine through.
In today's episode, Brooke McGlothlin helps us see that we all have moments when we feel like we’re not enough — when the chaos, exhaustion, or guilt of motherhood makes us want to quit trying. But instead of glorifying our weaknesses and letting them drain our hope, we can use them to glorify God.
Reference: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Prayer: Father, I confess to you that I feel so weak. I constantly wonder If the things that I do wrong on the daily with my children are going to cause them problems in the future But today I pray that you would help me to take heart Hold on But today I pray that you would help me to do something different Help me father to boast in my weaknesses and then be truly strong. May your strength Hold on. May the power of Christ rest upon me and for the sake of Christ help me to be content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for when I am weak then I am strong.

Let God Light a Fire in You

Bible Reading:
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our 'God is a consuming fire.'” – Hebrews 12:28-29, NIV
When possible, I love to light a candle to use during my evening prayer and meditation time. There’s something powerful about looking at a bright flame and reflecting on how God’s light brings hope into the darkness of this fallen world. There are so many ways that God burns bri

Interview Quotes:
“There are a lot of times when multiple doors open, and we don’t know which one to choose. As long as it’s in line with the Lord’s will and we have a peace about it, we just look through the door and go, ‘Which one’s more adventurous?’” - Dan Mathews
“The more you have, it can become a distraction in a way that keeps you from fully experiencing what God has.” - Dan Mathews
“Chasing a new job title or a bigger house or nicer car or more zeros in your bank account—at the end of the day, it just leaves you unfulfilled. Having time to do what we love, to share Jesus with people, to love on one another, to spend time with our kids, to go and see new places, that became our idea of success. If we don’t have the time to do what we love and to spend time with each other, then all other measures of success don’t matter.” - Dan Mathews
“Adventure isn’t one-size-fits-all. Adventure can just be getting outside of your comfort zone and trying something new.” - Dan Mathews
“God doesn’t want us to live a stagnant life. If you look through the stories in the Bible, you can’t find anywhere God is like, ‘Hey, just stay where you’re at. Don’t change a thing. Long-term, we just want you to hunker down and be comfortable.’ He’s always calling people. He’s telling people to go.” - Dan
Fear can feel overpowering—especially when circumstances press in, when we live in places that feel unsafe, or when anxiety has had time to settle in. But, as we reflect in our daily prayer and devotional, Scripture doesn’t leave us defenseless. In this devotional, Vivian Bricker reminds us that God is with us even when fear seems to surround us.
Though we often don’t see His hand at work, God is always moving behind the scenes—striking down evil, guarding us, and providing strength. Even when fear grips our hearts, we can choose to turn to Him, surrender our anxieties at His feet, and let His peace guard our minds (Philippians 4:6–7).
Moses’ charge to Israel in Deuteronomy 31:6 still rings for us today: “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God goes with you.” We don’t face life’s dangers alone. He never leaves us. With this promise, our fear can be met with courage rooted not in our own power, but in the faithful presence of God.
Today's Bible Reading:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
— Deuteronomy 31:6
Key Takeaways
God is always present—even in the darkest moments—and never abandons us.
Fear doesn’t need to control us; we can bring it to God in prayer.
True courage comes from trusting that God is greater than our threats.
The promise in Scripture is not that trouble won’t come, but that we won’t face it alone.
Let’s Pray Together
Dear God, fear surrounds me and uncertainty abounds. Thank You that You are here with me. Please strengthen my heart to be strong and courageous. Remind me that You will never leave me or forsake me. Help me surrender my fear to You and cling to Your steadfast love and protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

When we’re overwhelmed by emotions, it can feel like our hearts are shouting louder than truth. As our evening prayer and devotional remind us, fear, sadness, anxiety, or anger can rise up and drown out peace. But Philippians 4:7 reminds us that God offers a different kind of peace—one that surpasses understanding and quiets even the loudest feelings.
As Amber Ginter shares, emotions themselves aren’t wrong. They are part of how God designed us. The problem comes when we either let them rule us or bury them so deeply that they begin to rule us from the inside. God’s invitation is not to suppress our emotions, but to bring them honestly before Him. When we do, He helps us process them with wisdom and grace.
Whether you’re wrestling with anxiety, frustration, or sadness tonight, remember this: peace isn’t found in pretending you’re fine. It’s found in handing your raw, unfiltered emotions to the One who understands them perfectly. He can hold your heart steady when everything inside feels unsteady. His peace guards both heart and mind—two places that emotions often battle the hardest.
So let your feelings come—but don’t face them alone. God is big enough to handle every emotion and gentle enough to walk with you through them.
Tonight’s Scripture: Philippians 4:7 (NIV)
“The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds.”
Your Nightly Prayer
Dear Jesus,
You see my heart tonight and know the emotions I struggle to carry. Sometimes my feelings feel too big, and I don’t know what to do with them. But You promise peace that surpasses understanding. Help me to come to You honestly—with joy, sorrow, fear, and anger—trusting that You can handle them all. Calm my mind, quiet my soul, and fill me with Your peace that guards my heart. Thank You for creating me to feel and for meeting me in the midst of it.
In Your name I pray,
Amen.
Three Things to Meditate Upon
Feel to Heal:
Instead of suppressing your emotions, invite God into them. Journal or pray through what you’re feeling and ask Him to help you process with peace.
The Guard of Peace:
Reflect on Philippians 4:7 and do a small word study on “guard.” What does it mean that God’s peace actively protects your heart and mind?
The Voice of Grace:
When emotions get loud, which voice are you listening to—fear, shame, or God’s truth? Practice identifying His calm, steady voice amid the noise.
Calls to Action
Take five minutes tonight to breathe deeply and invite God’s peace to meet you where emotions feel loudest.

Verse of the Day: Hebrews 11: 1-3. Now, faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it, the people of old received their commendation. By faith, we understand that the universe was created by the word of God so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
Pray for mothers, children, and the soldiers in Israel to experience God's protection, peace, and daily courage in these uncertain times.
Pray for counselors, pro-life ministries, and outreach programs serving vulnerable women and families, including Bedouin and refugee communities, to bear fruit and reveal every child as a blessing from God. And
Pray for congregations to turn from fear and constant news toward scripture, prayer, fellowship, and practical love that strengthens the body of Christ.
