As the school year, sports, and activities fill up our calendars, the pressure to keep up can feel overwhelming. As tonight's prayer and devotional reminds us, between supply runs, carpools, and endless sign-ups, our schedules quickly balloon with commitments.
Amanda shares how her own family calendar—packed with multiple kids’ needs, sports, and events—reminded her of the importance of pausing before saying yes to just one more thing. Instead of letting the season run us, we can invite God to guide our steps and direct our plans.
Each year, Amanda’s church begins August with 21 days of prayer to prepare for the coming season. Maybe this fall, God is inviting you to pause, pray, and surrender every calendar item into His care. When we do, we find peace, joy, and wisdom for the season ahead.
Tonight’s Scripture: Proverbs 19:21
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”

Your Nightly Prayer
Father,
Thank You for the opportunities and blessings in the season ahead. Before I fill my calendar, I surrender my plans to You. Guide my steps, open the doors only You can open, and close the ones I’m not meant to walk through. Anchor my heart in peace and joy as I enter this fall. May my schedule reflect not just busyness, but Your purpose.
Amen.

Are You Ready for the Lord?
“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” Revelation 1:3.
“Ready or not, here I come!”
I would shout these words with my friends as we played the classic game of hide and seek as kids. Whenever I went over my friend's house or got to choose what we played at recess, hide and seek was one of my favorites. Because I was so small, I could hide in various places around the playground or around my friend's house. With great anticipation, I waited as I heard my friend's footsteps coming frantically, trying to find me.
Once, I hid in my friend’s pantry and ducked under the high shelves filled with canned goods. When they couldn't see me, I hollered, “Here I am!” I ran to my friends, grinning from ear to ear at the realization I had tricked them into not finding me.
Although I would love to hide from God, regarding my deepest secrets and sins, God's omniscience and sovereignty always reveal them to me. He always knows exactly where

Have you ever faced a decision that left you feeling uncertain about which way to go? In today's prayer and devotional, Scripture reminds us that our steps are directed by the Lord, even when we can’t fully see or understand His plan. Christine Perry shares a personal story of feeling the Lord’s nudge to step away from her current path without knowing what would come next.
What began as confusion and hesitation became a testimony of God’s perfect provision. Where Christine only saw uncertainty, God had already prepared opportunities for work, housing, and growth that she never could have orchestrated on her own.
The truth is, our perspective is limited—we see only what’s right in front of us. God, however, sees the full picture. Trusting Him with our decisions means surrendering our desire for total control and stepping forward in faith, even when the path feels unclear. His direction may not always align with our original plans, but His way is always better.
Today's Bible Reading
"A man's steps are of the Lord; How then can a man understand his own way?" – Proverbs 20:24 (NKJV)
Key Takeaways
God often asks us to take the first step before revealing the next.
Our plans may fall through, but God’s purposes never fail.
Trusting His direction requires faith beyond what we can see.
God’s provision and timing are always perfect, even when the process feels uncertain.
Let’s Pray Together
Lord, thank You for directing my steps, even when I don’t understand the way forward. Help me to trust Your wisdom and surrender my plans to You. Thank You for being my Shepherd, Provider, and Guide. Teach me to walk in faith, believing that Your direction is always good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Artificial intelligence is reshaping our world at lightning speed bringing both incredible possibilities and sobering dangers. But how should Christians think about AI in light of Scripture, and in particular the book of Revelation? In this conversation, Dr. John Lennox joins me to discuss his concerns about AI, but also his confidence in why the end of history will not come through AI or some other manmade technology. We discuss his newest book God, AI and The End of History. Comparison is one of the greatest thieves of joy. As our evening prayer and devotional remind us, social media makes it all too easy to feel like others are moving ahead while you’re stuck waiting. Yet Scripture calls us not to measure our worth against highlight reels but to test our own actions before the Lord.
Sophia shares how seasons of illness left her comparing her slowed-down life with peers’ seemingly carefree ones. But God reminded her that He is El Roi, the God who sees. Even when life feels interrupted or unnoticed, He never loses sight of us.
Comparison fades when we shift our focus from other people’s paths to the unique journey God is shaping in us. Our lives may look less glamorous, but they are no less valuable in His eyes.
Tonight’s Scripture: Galatians 6:4
"Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else."

Your Nightly Prayer
Lord,
You are the God who sees me, just as You saw Hagar in the wilderness. Help me turn from the lie that others have it better, easier, or more joyful than I do. Instead, open my eyes to where You are at work in my life right now. Teach me to celebrate the growth You are producing in me and to rest in the assurance that I am fully seen, known, and loved by You.
Amen.
Three Things to Meditate Upon
Think about the area of your life that feels most overlooked. How might God be at work there, even if no one else notices?
Write down three things you are grateful for today—small or large—and thank God for them.
Reflect on the image of a jigsaw puzzle. How might your current season be just one piece in the larger, beautiful picture God is creating?
