Have you ever wondered what it really means to be made in the image of God? Genesis 1:27 reveals that being created in God’s image isn’t just about our unique qualities—it’s about our purpose. In Scripture, God appoints humanity to represent His character and authority on earth, reflecting His love, order, and goodness wherever we go.
This devotional explores the deeper biblical meaning behind being made in God’s likeness, revealing how we were created not only with identity but also with divine responsibility. Like royal ambassadors, we are called to bring light into darkness, peace into chaos, and God’s presence into every sphere of influence.
✨ Highlights
Being made in God’s image goes beyond identity — It’s about living out God’s authority and reflecting His goodness.
Purpose and responsibility — We are meant to represent God’s character wherever we live, work, and influence others.
A biblical perspective — Ancient Near Eastern kings used statues to represent their reign; in the same way, we represent God’s kingdom on earth.
Humanity’s mission — Bring God’s order, kindness, and love into the spaces around you, from your home to your community.
Practical reflection — Use your unique gifts not only to build yourself up but to magnify God’s presence and goodness in the world.

What It Really Means to Be Made in the Image of God
by Deidre Braley
Genesis 1:27
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? In our daily prayer and devotional, we consider that too often, our view of ourselves is clouded by shame, insecurity, and the critical voice in our own heads. We imagine God sees us the same way — through the lens of our failures and flaws. But Scripture tells us something very different.
Through Jesus Christ, we are chosen, loved, redeemed, and clothed in righteousness. God doesn’t see us through condemnation but through the finished work of the cross. He calls us His children, His holy people, and His treasured possession.
Keneesha Saunders-Liddie reminds us that learning to see ourselves through God’s eyes is life-changing. Instead of walking in guilt or striving for worth, we can rest in the truth that His love is unconditional and His gaze never wavers. To God, you are not a mistake, a burden, or too far gone. You are His.
Today's Bible Reading: 1 Peter 2:9
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9
Key Takeaways
God sees you through Christ’s finished work on the cross, not through your failures.
You are chosen, loved, and secure in Him.
Seeing yourself through God’s eyes motivates a life of holiness and confidence.
His love is steadfast, unconditional, and never based on performance.
Let’s Pray Together
Abba Father, thank You for seeing me not through condemnation but through the sacrifice of Your Son. Help me to walk in confidence as Your chosen child, knowing that I am forgiven, loved, and secure in You. Teach me to view myself through Your eyes, living a holy life that reflects Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In this episode of "Inside the Epicenter," Joel and Lynne Rosenberg address a growing trend of young evangelicals turning against Israel. Speaking at the Calvary Chapel East Coast Pastors Conference, Joel identifies seven major reasons for this shift, citing a lack of biblical teaching about Israel at home, in churches, and in Christian schools. He stresses the responsibility of parents and churches to educate the next generation and highlights the role of misinformation from secular and social media. Joel also discusses the recent October 7 Hamas attack as a spiritual “shaking” of Israel, not God’s judgment, and urges listeners to adopt a compassionate, biblically balanced approach—loving both Israelis and Palestinians as Jesus commands. The Joshua Fund’s ministry is presented as a model for serving and educating the church regarding God’s purposes for the Middle East.

Starting over isn’t easy. Whether it’s a new job, a relationship, or an unexpected life change, new beginnings can feel overwhelming. In this evening's prayer and devotional, Scripture reminds us that God treasures even the smallest steps forward.
Britt Mooney reflects on Abraham, who was called to begin anew at eighty years old. What looked like uncertainty became the foundation of God’s promises to His people. In the same way, our fresh starts, however small or stressful, are never insignificant when placed in God’s hands.
God often works through humble beginnings so that His glory shines through. Just as He multiplied loaves and fish, He can take your new season—no matter how fragile—and grow something beautiful and eternal.
Don’t despise the small starts. Trust Him to be faithful with them.
Tonight’s Scripture: Zechariah 4:10
“Do not despise these small beginnings.”

Your Nightly Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of new beginnings, even when they feel uncertain or difficult. You remain faithful through every season of change. Give me courage to trust You with what feels small and unfinished. Like Abraham, help me to step forward in obedience, believing that You will bring great things from humble starts. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Three Things to Meditate Upon
Recall a time when starting over felt joyful—and a time when it was difficult. How did God meet you in both?
Think about the many biblical figures called into new beginnings. What did God accomplish through them?
What new season are you in right now, and what might God be calling you to trust Him with?
