Christians are marked by a life of repentance and hatred of sin. They are not perfect, but they do not look at ongoing sin nonchalantly. Jesus came to destroy the devil’s work—how can Christians abide in that which Christ came to destroy?

God’s love for those in Christ is so great and magnificent that is surpasses knowledge. Those who are not in Christ will not understand you. We are to seek purity in every area of life.

Confidence at the return of Christ demands abiding in Christ. God is righteous; so are those who are called by his name.

If the truth to which you responded in the beginning remains in you, you will have the Father, Son and Spirit. Heresy (denying Jesus is the Christ) is a lie; orthodoxy is true. Only one leads to eternal life.

Those who claim to walk by the truth but walk away from it demonstrate that they were never transformed by it. The fact that all of this happens demonstrates that we are in the last hour of this world.

To love life in this world is to be at odds with God. Life is a gift, but it is not the greatest gift. Life in Christ is the greatest life of all, and everything should be given away in exchange for it.

When we know that we know Christ, we may speak confidently of our faith. Our sins are forgiven, we know God through Christ, his word dwells in us, and Satan is overcome.

As Christ-followers we are called to love others, this is both an old and new commandment. Hating people, particularly brothers and sisters in Christ, is a sure sign that darkness still reigns in your life. Abide in Christ and love as he loves.

We know Jesus Christ by the grace of God through faith, but we demonstrate that we know him by our actions. To say "I know Christ" but to refuse to obey him as Lord is to be a liar.

Sin is real and must be dealt with. Those who are in Christ have an Advocate; the same Jesus who provided propitiation at the cross continues to stand in our place. Do not sin but when you do, look to your Advocate.
