I've come to realize and understand on my journey with God that he answers prayers according to his will and purpose for our lives. There are some prayers that God answers, and the answer is NO, but in our humanity and immaturity, we say that God did not answer. But he did answer; it's just that it was NO, and because we have this belief that when God says No, it's unanswered prayers, then we are disappointed. But he's the God of unanswered-answered
Elijah prayed to God to take his life; after his triumphant victory against the prophets of Baal, he is threatened by Jezebel, the enemy of the saints...that Lucifer spirit that she's going to kill him. He is on the run because of that statement from Jezebel, and now he comes to God and says in isolation, "It's enough, kill me, I want to die," paraphrasing here...
Have you ever been to such a place in your journey with God where you say, Lord, it's enough... I'm tired of the same thing over and over, and it seems like I
can't make it; it's enough, Lord; why is this happening to me and not the heathens? I mean, God, I serve you, and this is my reward. I've been there, Elijah was at this place, and he basically prayed for his life to be taken. But here's what's great about God, he's the God of unanswered prayers.
To Elijah and to us, God did not answer this prayer, but God answered with a NO, and I love God because even in the unanswered-answered prayers, he's still looking out for my good. Elijah had work to do, he was depressed, however, thinking he was the only prophet left, but God knew he wasn't the only one left, and at this point, Elijah didn't anoint Elisha yet. He had work to do; could you imagine if God had said YES to his prayer request... Elisha would not have gotten his double portion anointing.
You might be overwhelmed, tired, and ready to die, but there are people who depend on you and need you, and they are supposed to be impacted by your life. You are needed, and you cannot give up now. He has work for you to do. Let’s thank him for his unanswered-answered prayers. God bless you.
