Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. 1.The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteoutness and judgement.
And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. —John 16:8-11
2.The Holy Spirit empowers believers.
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through
his Spirit who dwells in you. —Romans 8:11
-Empowers believers with gifts.
7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. —1 Corinthians 12:7All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. —1 Corinthians 12:11
-Empowers believers with wisdom.
…For the Spirit searches everything even the depths of God. —1 Corinthians 2:10
-Empowers believers with strength.
that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. —Ephesians 3:16-19
3.The Holy Spirit reminds believers of our position in Christ and future inheritance in Heaven.
Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. —Romans 8:1In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. —Ephesians 1:13-14
INTERACTING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
-Test the Spirit
1 John 4:1-3; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 6:17
-Walk in Step with the Spirit
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. —Galatians 5:16-17
-Continue to be Filled with the Spirit
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit. —Ephesians 5:17-1816 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.
