Saul/Paul’s life:

Determined he would know the Law better than anyone. 
Accumulated many accolades for himself. 
Found himself not closer to God, but farther away.

Consider your priorities for 2022…

Decide now to not put no confidence in the flesh.
Determine to know Christ more deeply.—consider material possessions a lesser priority than knowing Jesus.
Right priorities can bring persecution.
Quit looking to the past, press on toward the ultimate prize—heaven.

Outward peace can happen if you follow the rules (Roman).

Shalom:

Inner peace can happen if God is pleased.

How is God pleased?

Through Jesus’ Sacrifice

Two Takeaways:

1.  We have inner peace when we surrender control to Jesus.

2.  We develop inner peace by living out Philippians 4:6-9.

JESUS brings JOY 
JOY is from the HOLY SPIRIT
Joy CANNOT BE TAKEN
Joy ENDURES  

CAUTIONS: 

We LOSE joy when we use RELIGIOUS DUTIES to impress others
We LOSE joy when we MISUNDERSTAND GRACE 

TAKEAWAY - Joy is found in UNDERSTANDING the FREE GIFT of Jesus
