Winter is almost here! What great fall and harvesting weather we have had. The elasticity of the cattle operation and Ranchers is something to admire as calves are being weaned and bales hauled into the yard.

He has a long history in the purebred cattle business across North America and has worked, judged and traveled across the world. With a vast network and the uncanny ability to remember names, Rolly has lived through some wonderful highs and dealt with some tough lows with health issues and his herd dispersion of Braebank Shorthorns then Livestock. Without Energizer there would not be I-80! I’ve always thought it was a story that needed to be told about how his Grandsire was born and bred in Canada. When I was going to school in the USA, I-80 was just starting to blow up. After judging a jackpot and using an I-80 female to win I looked into the bull a bit more, then as the world works I was talking about it with Neil’s son Chad and he filled me in on the background and kick started my little research project.

When Matt Lautner called about releasing a simultaneous podcast about Riverstone Charmed 50C on MLC’s The Big Show and our Lifestock Podcast I jumped on board. Riverstone Charmed 50C does hold dual citizenship being bred, born and raised at Riverstone Cattle Company outside of Olds, AB and Matt felt a longer format podcast hosted by a fellow Canadian (eh!) would work well to talk about a cow that has elevated her reputation in production as a donor, after leaving a trail of broken hearts and egos behind here in the ring.

Tim and Kim Matthews are no strangers to the Canadian purebred sector and have had great success showing their own cattle across Western Canada.
