Episode 12, I host a special guest, and a friend of mine from Queen’s University, Katya Douchant. She is currently a PhD Candidate ’23 in Microbes, Immunity and Inflammation at Queen’s University.
She is one smart friend and is a life long learner! Her other academic achievements include a Bachelors in Life Sciences with a Specialization and an MSc, all completed at Queen’s University. She really loves Queen’s and cannot seem to leave Queen’s or Kingston.
In this episode, Katya takes us through her undergraduate degree in Life Sciences and how it stimulated her interest in pursuing a Masters Thesis degree and further on pursuing a Doctorate degree focusing specifically on prostate cancer research. Katya gives us a summary and a look into her current exciting research for her PhD. Additionally, Katya also provides advice and tips on how to study and be successful during undergraduate studies. Therefore, in this episode, we jump through all the types of education levels one may take during their times as a student from undergrad to doctorate and Katya does a great job providing insights at each level of education.
I personally enjoyed this conversation with Katya and I hope you do too. Her passion for education and research is something to admire. She is not only smart but she also works really hard to achieve all of this success. Thank you again Katya for coming onto this episode and sharing your story.
