David Prior talks to Singer Songwiter Rachael Fahim and also performs live for us in the studio
What happens when a magnetic presence intersects with pure talent? Sydney born country music singer Rachael Fahim has won her way into the hearts of audience and industry alike one performance at a time. The tiny framed, big voiced pocket rocket delivers dynamic performance over and over again showing of her soulful growl, light pop and folky roots.
“It’s important to me that I delivery an honest performance and share my stories with people. It doesn’t matter to me if I am playing for one person or thousands if I can reach just one person and change their day, well that just means the world to me.”
Not only is Rachael an incredible performer she is also a talented songwriter, who wears her heart on her sleeve. Rachael’s creativity and fearless approach to her music has seen her tour the east coast of Australia as well as performing at some of Australia’s biggest country music festivals.
Rachael grew up in the outskirts of the Sydney Metro area so when she fell in love with Country music and decided to pursue it, it’s safe to say that she raised a few eyebrows. “I quickly became known in the talent quest circle as the “country girl from the city” - something that Rachael has embraced and channelled into her style and sound. “I grew up listening to my parent’s music and luckily, for me, that included Country. It was important to me, especially as I got older and was able to express myself by producing and developing a raw and authentic sound that really reflected me”. During school, Rachael, like many young women was badly bullied and turned to writing her stories with catchy riffs, and fun and quirky thoughts
Live music is important to Rachael, “I love performing live, more than being in a studio really. It’s so cool to be out and playing for people and meeting them. I especially love when I get home from a gig and there is a message from someone on social media saying that I have made a new fan in them. I don’t take this lightly!”
