Melbourne's soulful, alt country troubadour, Rick Hart, is thrilled to announce the release his first full-length offering Let Me In on October 27 following a string of successful singles. With Let Me In, Hart delivers eleven songs that showcase his
ability to seamlessly weave through country, soul, folk and rock 'n' roll, marrying beautiful melodies with heartfelt, often soul-wrenching imagery. Backed throughout by luscious female vocals and harmonies, Hart's own voice floats with soulful warmth and honesty over the soundscapes he creates. True to his traditional country roots, he
never strays or betrays the honesty of his songs.
“I want listeners to be drawn into the stories and be able to relate to the songs,” Hart said. “I want them to feel a familiarity with the songs, coming from the honesty of the lyrics and the melodies those stories are painted on.” Influences ranging from Kris Kristofferson, George Jones, Tom Petty, Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac shine through, yet never detract from the distinctive nature of Hart's own writing and sound. Heartache, whirlwind romances, homesickness, addiction, loss and healing, regret and hope, even schoolyard crushes provide a vast and varied scenery for the tales that weave throughout Let Me In.
“All the songs come from past experiences, or me just observing people I know who have been through those experiences,” he said. “The stories stem from me observing the landscape of things that don’t always sit well with me such as domestic violence, betrayal and addiction.”
Since the release of his 2014 debut EP Spiral, for which he was awarded the Australian Songwriters Association (ASA) Songwriter of the Year Award, Hart has continued to build a name and presence in the Australian country and Americana scene. His singles Levon Helm, Driver Alone and, more recently, the country melancholy of To The Grave, have brought further recognition and built anticipation around his first album.
“This first album is about opening doors, eyes and ears to Rick Hart the songwriter, a
storyteller, hopefully someone who provides listeners a distinctive sound,” he said.
After a string of shows through 2017 supporting the likes of country icon Bill Chambers and Things Of Stone And Wood, Hart will be touring through parts of Australia to promote Let Me In. See below for tour details.
