(Sermon preached December 7, 2025) Luke 1:57-80 tells the story of John's birth, naming, and purpose. According to Zechariah's prophecy, he will prepare the way for the bringer of peace. This is ther sermon for the Second Sunday of Advent when we light the peace candle and explore the difference between God's peace and the Peace of Rome. John helps to prepare the way for us to be peacemakers by calling us to repent and pointing to Jesus as the one we should follow.
