  • Episode 19 Featuring Rynda Laurel
From Rock & Roll To Recovery, To Catalyst, Strategist & Entrepreneur
Rynda is a fierce advocate for transformation. She lives in the world as a beautiful expression of creative passion, courageous adventure and selfless service. Listen with an open mind and heart as Rynda shares her experience, strength and hope.
You know how you meet people and they either enter into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime? Well, I am not sure which Rynda will be in my life but I can say, I already know the reason, it’s already been a good but brief season and I wouldn’t be too sad if it remained for a lifetime.
Rynda, THANK YOU for your wide-open heart of courage and love. Thank you for bringing the gift of VRYEveryday to the world…to us. Thank you for your care and service to those seeking a ‘way out’ of addiction.
The realm of recovery, as we have come to know it has been the almost exclusive domain of “having had a spiritual awakening as a result of…” However, it isn’t wise nor prudent to dismiss other important components of “recovery”…for that matter mental health as a whole. Let’s face it our culture has infected the entire planet with a mental illness bordering on the lunacy of consumption and prosperity at all cost. This global condition is the untreated condition of 7.3 billion individuals who live as, what the Buddhists would call, Hungry Ghosts…constant craving for more. You and are are infected with a version of ‘ISM’ be it alcoholISM, consumerISM, any form of religionISM. The ISM = I Seek More. Whoa, how did I get so far down that path?
Let me return to other vital components to OUR collective restoration to ‘sanity’. That brings me to the solution Rynda is drawing our attention to, the biochemical rebalancing that all of us need to be brought ‘home’ to. Whether we’ve consumed copious amounts of chemicals to induce an altered state or we’ve drowned our neurons in the consumption of social media our biochemistry is ‘WACKED’. Rynda offers a solution in the form of  VRYeveryday, VRYeveryday.com
Please visit Rynda’s Website & FaceBook Page and do the research you need to purchase any of the products that support the restoration of our balanced biochemistry.
Rynda, if you would honor us with a return visit to Light In A Spoon, you will ALWAYS be welcome.

  • Episode 18 – Sandra Kimler

Sandra was introduced to me through Tyffany Howard who, by the way was my guest for episode 4. As Tyffany and I were wrapping up our conversation she said “you have to meet my friend Sandra from Australia. She would be a wonderful contribution to Light In A Spoon.”

Sandra & I first became friends on Facebook where I began getting acquainted with her work as an author and an entrepreneur. Sandra is the creator and founder of Sun Love Greens, Australia and the author of “So, Why Become Vegan”.

Sandra came to the states earlier this year to spend a month long holiday with Tyffany Howard.  Sandra made arrangements to carve out a few extra days while visiting her son who had followed her from Australia to spend time with his father in LA. She came for a short visit while I was living in Joshua Tree, CA to record this episode of the podcast.

I have no doubt you will admire the purity of her soul, her commitment to her “Truth” and her generous spirit. Sandra’s devotion to gifting the planet with sustainable nutrition through Sun Love Greens brings immense respect.  In her ‘spare time’ Sandra is a devoted mother and mentor to 3 beautiful and very active adult children.

Sandra is true to her powerful message of plant based nutrition (Vegan), her commitment to animal rights, and sustainability for the planet. • Episode 17 – don Jose Ruiz

The time don Jose graces us with is truly a gift. Jose is a teacher, a Shaman, a friend to many and a ‘son of God’. I have received inspiration from his writings and love from his presence.

Jose is a true teacher in that his teachings point us to the source of all of our good…The realm of our true power and happiness…the ‘kingdom within’. Jesus, in the New Testament, calls it “The Kingdom of God” and “The Kingdom of Heaven”. A true teacher is a ‘finger pointing to source’. Even the Buddha said “I am but a finger pointing at the moon”. A true teacher empties our head and fills our core.

I have read don Jose’s books and I have sat with him for 8 days as he taught a group of us the ways of the Toltec people in Teotihuacan, MX. Jose’s books include “The 5th Agreement”, co-written with his father don Miguel Ruiz, and “My Friend the Rattlesnake” to name just 2 in addition to his recent release “The Wisdom of The Shamans”.

I have learned much and have been deeply moved by this man’s teachings, but I have been ‘changed’ by his love.

don Jose, thank you for sharing your love and your wisdom with our Light

    In A Spoon tribe.

  • Episode 16 – Careena Chase – The Power & Wisdom of Healing

    Episode 16 Careena Chase

Careena, thank you so much for sitting down and being willing to be so open and vulnerable with us. From the moment we met in Idylwild, you’ve been among my favorite people on the planet. Your love, wisdom and generous life touches and inspires the hell out of me. I am sure your life will inspire many who listen to our conversation.

Careena has been moved powerfully by a few teachers along the way. She has become acquainted with Dr Joe Dispenza of “The Secret” fame. We are providing links to 2 of his books, “Becoming Supernatural” & “Breaking The Habit Of Being Yourself”

Careena is a poet indeed in that she pours light into a spoon everyday, and lifts it to nourish many beautiful parched holy mouths.

I also want to thank Luke for all of the post recording work including managing our social media, iTunes and website.

Jay Pinto, thank you for allowing us to use “We Breathe The Same Air”. We are all in this together. Let’s make shift happen.

Careena’s story opens my heart and mind to pouring my light into a spoon…NO MATTER WHAT! Let it open yours.

Be The Light, pour it freely,

    Greg

  • Light In A Spoon – Episode 14 – Gary Allen

    Episode 14 – Gary Allen

This week’s guest is among a very few people who have actually been involved in search for extraterrestrial life. He has been witness to and recorded events of contact with ET’s and has come to the conclusion that they are here among us and mean us no harm. I for one am hoping they are here to help. God knows we need some kind of intervention and redirection as ‘stewards’ of the earth.

In fact maybe they can help remind us we are ‘Stewards’ and here to care for and live in alignment with the earth. Yes let us be reminded of that.

Gary Allen has been a long time peace officer and although retired is still active in honoring the heroes of our law enforcement community.

A couple of books I might suggest is Dan Millman’s “Way Of The Peaceful Warrior” and don Miguel Ruiz’ new book “The Wisdom of The Shamans” Yep get it and find out why I would suggest this on in connection with this podcast episode.

Gary, thank you for taking your time to share you wisdom, your love, your experience. You my friend are a powerful force for good in the world. Stay true to assisting the rest of us in opening our hearts and minds beyond our ‘seen’ reality.

In closing, walk in the world as a poet. “Pour light into a spoon and then lift it to nourish many, many, many beautiful parched holy mouths.

Until next time, Peace & Love,

    Greg

  • Light In A Spoon – Episode 13 – Alex Carlbon

Have you met people along the way that seem to have a powerful sense of purpose or as one of me ‘teachers’, James Altucher invites us all to, “Choose Yourself”!  Alex Carlbon is one of those people that have a view of what their life is to be about AND is courageous enough to live in alignment with what they are being called to do; to be.

When I met Alex he was living out of his Toyota 4Runner carrying several of his paintings with him, hoping and working to sell them on his own as he met people along the way. At the time, and this was only in Dec of 2017 he barely had an Instagram account and no website. Today,Tues April 9th, 2018 you can find Alex everywhere, including his website www.alexcarlbon.com

Which is amazing. Alex, I am inspired by who you continue to be and become. You can find Alex on Instagram, FaceBook and from his website, locate him at an upcoming ‘Show’ at an art gallery near you.

Alex talks about the use of psychedelics, our education system, politics, relationships from the perspective of his own experience. I for one will trust a person with an experience over someone with an argument.

Alex, thank you for sharing your time, your experience and your wisdom with us. My brother, continue to be true to yourself and as you are, your life and your art will inspire many. You, my brother are living the definition of Hafiz’ ‘Poet’ for your are a master of the magic of pouring light into a spoon and then lifting it to nourish many, many beautiful parched holy

  • Episode 12 – Nate Lanting

Nate Lanting, for me is one of those men that meeting him is coming home to a best friend.

Nate is the director of Recovery Beyond Paradigm and works closely with another podcast favorite, Marc Urisino.

This man walks in the world with a wide-open heart to serve. He is devoting his life to guiding people in recovery from drug addiction and alcoholism, to new heights…literally. One of the programs that Nate directs is “Climb Out of Homelessness”. Every year 10-12 men and women who are in treatment at Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission or the Tacoma Rescue Mission’ are selected and have the opportunity to train and prepare for a summit of Mt Rainier. This is no easy task and each person learns to endure miles of hiking, climbing skills and the ability to keep going when everything in them is scream “WTF what in the hell are you doing to me?”

In the summer of 2016 I had the priviledge of climbing with the team as a porter (sherpa) in support of the summit team. We carried 40-50lbs to Camp Muir on Mt Rainier.

During our conversation We discuss a documentary called “A New High” that I highly suggest you see. It will touch move and inspire you to take on seemingly daunting things in your own life. It will also speak to the strength and determination found within the human spirit. I can’t help think it will want to make you want to get off the damn sofa and hit a trail.

Until next episode; Be a poet to and with the people in your life. Pour light into a spoon (work your magic) and then lift it to nourish many, many, many beautiful parch holy mouths.

    Mad Love,

    Greg

    Episode 11 – Erin Sharaf

My time with Erin left a deposit that I continue to carry today. As I mentioned she gave me a much sharper focus for the ‘message’ of Light In A Spoon.

Erin is an agent of change in the ‘healing’ segment of our culture and education. Her background provides a powerful message. Let me clarify; Erin is intent to return our medical system to a system of healing and health.

She Founded Mindfulness + Magic with Erin Sharaf to promote personal growth and expanding  awareness of the importance of mindfulness for educators and health professionals. She teaches educators how to model calm and presence in the classroom in order to be a powerful voice of reason and calm.

  • Spoon Full Of Light – Esp 3 – Our Longing Ache

We all have the ache, that deep desire for true happiness. Many of us try to find it in the arms of another but what I have found is that like the great philosophers of the past; Jesus, Buddha, Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., true happiness is found within. When we are able to get comfortable with ourselves, get quiet with our thoughts and find our true self you can find real happiness.

We invite you to get quiet and find who you are.

About Light in a Spoon

From the publisher's feed

Light In A Spoon showed up in my life 16 years ago when I picked up a book called "I Heard God Laughing, Renderings of Hafiz". Each poem cracked open bits of my heart and mind as I let the humor and wisdom of this ancient master seep into the deeper parts of ME.
