Bad things happen to good people. Sometimes these bad things happen to people we know. And sometimes these bad things happen to us. Which brings up the question: Why does God let bad things happen to people who don’t deserve it. It’s because of sin. Adam and Eve pulled away from God, but instead of ending it all there, His love for us endured. God will make all things right, He will judge justly and the wrongs will be redeemed.

Our time here on earth is pretty irrelevant if you consider the eternity that God offers us. Even if we live into our 90’s its slight in terms of infinity. We need to live our lives on the eternal spectrum. Jeremiah lived his life in this manner, and as such was able to consistently deliver God’s message without fear of the repercussions. We, too, will find fearlessness here on earth when we fully grasp the implications of eternity with Christ.

Did you ever wonder if God gives second chances? Jonah got one when the fish spit him onto the beach. How is God working with you in His compassion and forgiveness to give you a second chance?

In today's story, Paul is accused of turning the world upside down with the message of Jesus. This Gospel message can transform those who are receptive to it and aggravate those who refuse it. Thus, we have the spiritual battle. But this battle can act to strengthen our faith just as physical exercise strengthens our bodies. Where does God want to make you stronger?

When you come to faith and believe in Jesus as your Savior, you should be problem free, right? Not really. Paul certainly believed in Jesus but in today's story, he has all kinds of battles. Paul can show us how to deal with the battles of life.

Who has inspired you to be an imitator of Christ? The Thessalonian church imitated Paul and Jesus and as a result gained a reputation for their faith. How is God calling you to a deeper faith with Him? Who do you want to imitate?

How powerful are your prayers? Paul prayed for the Thessalonians daily. The ministry there wasn't easy but Paul loved the church in spite of the battles.

After Paul casts out a demon from a servant girl, the girls' owners are unhappy. They start a mob action against Paul and Silas. This results in a beating and imprisonment. How could God possibly bring something positive out of the situation?

Paul and Silas follow the lead of the Holy Spirit and go to Philippi. Their obedience leads to a fruitful harvest. Lydia is one of their first converts and gives them a place to base their operations. But a battle looms as Paul casts out a demon from a servant girl.

How do we discern between a test from God and a hindrance from the enemy? Paul had to figure out if the enemy was stopping them from preaching the Word or if it was God changing their plans. Paul does everything he can to further the Gospel.
