  • When Afraid, You Need to Experience God!
This sermon explores how believers can overcome fear and anxiety by actively experiencing God's presence, drawing primarily from Psalm 27. It argues that confidence in God stems not merely from intellectual assent but from a personal, covenantal relationship where God is known as one's light and salvation. The message emphasises the importance of wholehearted desire for corporate worship and beholding God's beauty as a source of protection and peace. Furthermore, it addresses the reality of spiritual dryness by encouraging believers to plead with God for His presence and to 'preach to themselves' by affirming biblical truths against the voice of doubt. The tone is pastoral and encouraging, inviting the audience to rely on Christ's faithfulness to find stability in a fallen world.

  • The City of Glory
This sermon explores the theological significance of the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21-22, arguing that the description represents the present reality of the church rather than solely a future eternal state. The central message emphasizes that the church is the temple of God, illuminated by His glory, and called to reflect the light of Christ to a world in darkness. Key themes include the universal mission of the church to preach the gospel as the sole means of healing and salvation for the nations, drawing on Old Testament parallels in Isaiah and Ezekiel. The preacher urges believers to recognize their identity as the bride of Christ and to actively engage in evangelism, asserting that the open gates of the city invite all who believe while excluding the unclean. The tone is pastoral and exhortative, encouraging the congregation to boldly proclaim the gospel with the assurance that God alone converts hearts.

  • "Homeward Bound: The Reverent Redeemed"
What are Christians like? How are Christians different from our unsaved neighbors, coworkers, and friends as we journey through life in a world that is not our home? Christians are hopeful, says 1 Peter 1:13. Christians are holy, says verse 15. And Christians are reverent; we live in the fear of the Lord. "If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your sojourn," 1 Peter 1:17 (LSB). God's children live with reverent awe before their Father and Judge, knowing that He evaluates everything in our lives impartially. Ours is not the fear of condemnation awaiting those who have no refuge from God's wrath; it is the reverence of those who belong to a holy God and take seriously how they live before Him. Why do we live this way? Because we've been redeemed with the precious blood of Christ. Christians are the reverent redeemed. This Lord's Day, we'll continue our look at 1 Peter 1 and its call to godly living in a God-denying world. Join us as we consider, "Homeward Bound: The Reverent Redeemed." Prepare for Sunday: Read and meditate on 1 Peter 1:13-21, focusing on verses 17-21. Also read 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 and 1 John 3:1-3. What reasons does Peter give for Christians to live in reverent fear? How should we understand the call to fear God in light of the Bible's teaching that believers are forgiven and accepted by God? How should knowing that God judges impartially—and that Christ has redeemed us at such a cost—change the way we live?
