For four sessions we argued the case that the Christ is Jesus; in this final session we stop arguing and simply look, because there is a difference between examining a diamond's certificate and turning the diamond in the light. The chapter we turn is Isaiah 53, written seven centuries before Bethlehem, and we walk it slowly, stanza by stanza: the Servant God introduces, the Servant despised, the Servant pierced for our transgressions, the Servant silent before His shearers, and the Servant whom God raises, satisfies, and sets to interceding. Along the way we hear what Jewish scholars across the centuries have made of this Servant, and we ask the one question their own tradition cannot answer from within: who is righteous enough to suffer for others? The answer has a name, and the session ends where the chapter begins, with a single word addressed to you: Behold.
