Paul draws to the end of his first letter to the Corinthian church. After loftily addressing the disorders and discussion, he arrives at the anchor upon which all else is built, the Gospel. In the opening portion, he reminds them that the gospel is the primary foundation for their faith, recounts the gospel in accordance with scriptures, restablishes its reality with the witnesses, and closes by showing them the evidence of the gospel in a man's life, humility.

As we delve further into the heart of Paul's discussion of order in the church, Paul shows the Corinthian church the proper context and usage of their gifts when they gather together— in love, putting their neighbours before themselves. He further encourages them to gear every spiritual expression towards worship, giving themselves to order and following the biblical/apostolic patterns.

As we close up on the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians, Paul reminds us of the most excellent way, love. Pastor Genesis, in today's Bible study, encourages and reminds us about the essence of love, the fundamental element as the true mark of every mature Christian and the only eternal reality.

Paul shows us the more excellent way by which we are to desire spiritual gifts to use them for the common good, which is love (along with its attributes), and now we interact with the text to understand Paul's position and passion and also to try to tackle the great debate on the issue of tongues alongside a desire for spiritual gifts, amongst many other issues that arise from the text.

Paul carries on his thoughts from chapter 12 in the book of 1st Corinthians: to show them a more excellent way, Love. In this chapter, Paul enlightens the Corinthian church that love is a necessity, permanent, and also gives them a catalogue of what it is and what it isn't so that they, and we (in the church today), may be mindful of our exercise of service and in our daily lives.

Having established the nature and purpose of spiritual gifts that Paul points out in 1 Corinthians Chapter 12, we build on this foundation in today's Bible study to explore and understand how these various gifts play a role in ensuring that the one body with many members functions properly. He also reiterates in these verses that all parts of the body are indispensable. We also tackle the questions that arise from the text to help us better understand how to better apply these truths.

Amidst the debates amongst Christians as to the existence and usage of spiritual gifts in the church today, much of the division has ensued because the nature and purpose of such gifts have been lost from applications over the years. As we look at 1st Corinthians Chapter 12, Paul identifies these gifts and reopens our eyes to the scriptural nature and purpose of God's spiritual gifts to the church.

As we reflect on the words of Paul in 1 Corinthians, we further examine the Lord's supper in its proper context. Paul shows us where it ought to be administered, how it ought to be taken, and the purpose for which we partake in the Lord's supper. This chapter serves as a guide for the 21st century church to observe this means of grace in a worthy manner.
