Throughout history, the Christian faith has transformed entire cultures and civilizations, building cathedrals and universities, expressing God’s goodness through art and literature, science, and medicine.

What about today? Can we as Christians change the world again, and what will it take?

 In this episode, our host Helen Todd talks with Christian author and thinker, Os Guinness. To the world, the Guinness family is known for the beer brand and book of world records. But to the Christian world, they’re known for their contributions to the spread of Christianity worldwide.

Having low self-esteem can take over your entire life. But perhaps the most difficult part of having low self-esteem is that it follows you even when you’re alone. 

 You may constantly feel inadequate and compare yourself negatively to others. There are a few main reasons behind low self-esteem, including the negative experiences we’ve had in childhood, but it’s made worse by the pervasive culture of comparison brought by social media and other aspects of modern life.

 This week, our host Helen Todd is joined by Heather Holleman, a professor and author whose recent novel “This Seat’s Saved” helps young readers understand what it means to be seated with Christ. 

 In their conversation, they discuss overcoming comparison and the feeling of loneliness. Their conversation expands into a broader discussion on being seated with Christ to overcome all kinds of adversities, trials, and traumas.

Do you ever feel both empowered and intimidated by Jesus' Great Commission? This week’s guest, DeAnna Moore, a 72- year old nurse practitioner from Texas, shares her  story of encountering Jesus at a young age and how it has helped her over come alcohol and drug addiction and led her to fulfill a lifelong dream of doing missionary work.

 In the conversation you will learn how she heard God’s call to go to Moldova, overcame the obstacles holding her back, was able to use her difficult past to touch the lives of the Moldovan people and will hear the testimonies of those who were touched by her ministry.

 Her story is a great example that God does not call the qualified but qualifies those whom He calls.

We can’t choose whether we’ll go through trials, experience crisis, or suffer from trauma. In fact, Jesus even told us that in this world, we will have trouble. 

 But Jesus also encouraged us by declaring that He has overcome this world, and so we can choose how to respond when we go through trials.

 In the last episode of the podcast, we heard the story of how Helen’s oldest son, Philip, was recently the victim of a violent crime. The event was sudden and unexpected, but the Lord had been preparing him for it, and He used it to strengthen Philip even more.

 This week, our host Helen Todd interviews her husband Chuck Todd, president of World Missions Alliance. In this conversation, we hear Chuck’s perspective on the attack on his son, and how this trial has built up Chuck and Helen’s hope.

This week’s episode is part one of the two-part conversation with Leonora Maloku, a former Muslim from Kosovo. Having lived in Kosovo her whole life, Leonora distinctly remembers the Kosovo war of 1998, which started when she was only 11 years old. 

 The events of the war would drastically change Leonora’s life. When it ended in June of 1999, in despair and depression, she began her “battle with God”. In this episode, you will hear more about the war in Kosovo from the perspective of a young girl, who had to hide in the woods with her mom and sisters, and later discovered the tragic loss of her father.

Ultimately, this is a story of true hope with unexpected plot twists.
