Zac Abroms didn’t really foresee a career in music. In fact, when he finished Uni he wasn’t too sure what he wanted to do. However, inspired by his friends booking gigs in London, he went door to door in Melbourne pitching a night for local indie bands. Miss Libertines eventually gave him a crack and he begun booking a monthly showcase. The first night saw 400 people through the door and it was by all measures, a roaring success. From there he moved into a role at record label Forum 5, before embarking on a solo music PR and management venture a couple of years later, Viceroyalty. Zac eventually tried his hand at talent coordinating for Maroochy Festival and an industry summit Face The Music. The rest is history, you could say. Eilish Gilligan is a unique talent. Alongside her burgeoning career as a solo artist and integral member of Melbourne alt-pop band Frida, Eilish works as a publicist at On The Map. Productive and prolific, she was introduced to music at a young age – her parents fostering her passion from the get go. Furthering her journey as a singer and songwriter, Eilish started studying music at the Victorian College of The Arts. She met some of her future bandmates in that very course. With a strong interest in both music production and ‘behind the scenes’ elements, in 2015 Eilish reached out to a local publicity company offering to intern. It’s been an upward trajectory ever since.

Young women are reclaiming their space in the music scene. They’re empowered, and opening up the dialogue of diversity in our industry. This is the reason it’s so important to recognise and celebrate that. A true music industry multi tasker, Sabrina Robertson runs Melbourne music blog Mismatch and manages acts such as Mount Defiance, Sleepy Dreamers and Alexander Biggs – all while working full time at Native Tongue Music Publishing. Genna Alexopoulos is the founder and lead publicist at boutique agency Super Duper. She’s got a rich history in the music industry, starting out running FReeZA shows in her hometown before working at the likes of Shock Records, Vivid Live and the iconic Big Day Out. In late 2013 after a terribly timed redundancy, Genna took the plunge and started her own company.
