Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Lloyd’s early promise was evident when he clinched the Scottish Boys’ Championship in 2003. This victory marked the beginning of a series of amateur triumphs that would set the stage for his future in the sport.
Lloyd’s amateur career reached its zenith in 2005, a year that saw him secure both the Brabazon Trophy and the St Andrews Links Trophy. However, it was his performance in The Open Championship at St Andrews that truly stood out. Finishing tied for 15th overall, Lloyd emerged as the low amateur, earning the prestigious Silver Medal. This achievement placed him alongside golfing greats and underscored his potential on the international stage.
Following his stellar amateur successes, Lloyd turned professional in 2007. He competed on various tours, including the European Tour and the Challenge Tour, striving to make his mark in the professional arena.
