Linking Macbeth to Black Lives Matter

This podcast looks at history books, yearbooks, and other archival materials to tell the story of University High School. Once the Tongva village of Kuruvungna whose fate was documented in Father Crespi's diary where he described the day Father Junìpero Serra and Gaspar de Portola visited the village, it was later granted to Francisco Sepulveda under Mexican rule. His widow sold the land to Colonel Baker, husband of Arcadia Bandini Stearns, who sold some his interest to Comstock Lode silver mine owner, John P. Jones. They formed the Santa Monica Water Company, which sold land to LA schools.
