Known for one act of needless brutality. Englishman Lionel Terry (1873-1952) spent more of his life inside New Zealand Mental Asylums that out. Never the less. The well-travelled Terry was a complicated eccentric character. That had his supporters. An avid socialist. Supporter of Maori having their own homelands. As well as a rabid racist and anti-Semite. This podcast covers a lot of new ground about Lionel Terry. Plus: the intriguing death of his sister Ellen Webster at the Avondale Lunatic Asylum 1910.
