  • 4. My embodiment journey (from lack to abundance)

We’re squarely in Taurus season, which brings us back to our senses (literally) and our bodies.

Qing reflects on her embodiment journey: from seeing herself as a runt as a prematurely born child who struggled in swimming classes, to feeling more resourced and empowered in her body.

She also shares more expansive ways of relating to our bodies, moving beyond treating pain and exercising to meet health goals, towards being in conversation with our intuition and our body’s signals.

📢 Qing is pivoting from creative services into spiritual and embodiment work! Follow her journey on @birdbrain_co.

    Story highlights:

    • The importance of embodiment in these transformative times 3:02
    • How being a prem baby shaped Qing’s beliefs about her body 3:34
    • How pilates and yoga restored Qing’s relationship with her body 6:16
    • The sense of abundance that somatic therapy restored 9:20
    • Intuition and energy work as a catalyst for repatterning Qing’s story of being weak and slow 12:04

Wondering how to begin your embodiment journey? Qing shares practical steps:

    • Noticing the body: pain, strength, lightness 14:15
    • Learning how the body says “yes” 16:32
    • Using the language of abundance with your embodiment goals 17:48
    • Checking in consistently with the body 18:36
    • Broadening your somatic practices beyond physical treatment and exercise 21:02

    • Louise Hay, “Emotional and Mental Causes of Illness: The List"

Technical Note: Our mic switched off midway without us realising 😖 We’ve tried our best to magick it, but the audio quality is still inconsistent!

  • 3. How my intuition awakened (working through fears + clairsenses 101)

We sometimes think of our intuition as a vague “gut feeling”, but did you know this “sixth sense” is actually a very developed language? 🤯

Qing shares how her intuitive gifts as a child became blocked by fears, how she worked through them, and introduces the seven ways intuition can show up for all of us. (Yes, you read that right: you don’t need to be psychic to be intuitive!)

    Highlights:

    • How fear blocks intuition 08:45
    • The boundary work that began Qing’s journey of healing 10:43
    • A fateful energy work session that awakened Qing’s intuition 18:33
    • Intuition vs. instinct: what’s the difference? 21:08
    • The seven clairsenses: clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognisance, clairallience, clairgustance, clairtangency 22:39
    • Five practical ways to begin working with your intuition 38:04

  • 2. The birth of Lionheart (fears of speaking & finding my voice)

So many podcasts exist, it almost seems like a cliche to start one. But every podcast has a unique origin story: something that made it possible, that made it feel important, to share your voice with the world.

Qing dives into childhood incidents that shaped her fear of speaking her truth, experiences that helped her to work through it, and how Lionheart was shaped by her creative explorations and experiences from being an avid podcast listener herself.

    Highlights:

    • How Qing fell down the podcast rabbit hole thanks to her dad’s bad driving skills 🤡
    • Lionheart’s beginnings as an essay idea
    • A clear intuitive message from the universe to start the podcast
    • Unexpected “side quest” explorations that helped Qing befriend her voice
    • Qing’s vision for the podcast and her greatest wishes for Lionheart’s listeners ❤️‍🔥

📢 PSA: Let’s honour the cultural roots of “chakra” and pronounce it the Sanskrit way! We're still unlearning and relearning it too 🙇🏻‍♀️

    Resources mentioned:

    • Concept of personal development as a spiral by Carl Jung (and a lovely illustration of a reframe of cycles as spirals)

    • Memory Reconsolidation (on schemas & reactivation windows) by Dr Tori Olds

Important note: This video explainer creates awareness but should not replace the need for professional support in working through your traumas.

Aside from journalling and help from friends, Qing has been supported on her healing journey by a somatic therapist, an energy work practitioner, and former teammates certified in coaching.

  • 1. Beginnings: When is your New Year? (+ practices to start the year)

When and how do you begin the year? For our pilot episode, Qing looks back on January and shares when 2026 really felt like it began for her (hint: it was not New Year’s Day!).

She also talks about different practices we start the year with—making resolutions, choosing words of the year, setting intentions—and talks about her priority this year: to practise discipline.

    Ideas shared include:

    • Why “discipline” can be such a difficult word for many of us (especially growing up in Asian cultures)
    • The importance of reclaiming its gifts
    • What discipline looks like, as practised in small daily ways
    • How to coax yourself into becoming more disciplined
    • Balancing structure with openness

(P.S. We had a special unplanned cameo from an Asian koel, spot it for good luck 😌🍀)
