Most of us have probably heard of the term "lip service," where the right things are said that are nice or flattering, but then there aren't any actions to back those words up. This shows up in marriage sometimes, when a spouse might say something in hopes to keep the peace or in hopes to keep their spouse from reacting.
The problem that eventually comes from doing this over time is that a resentment is often building up inside, as the spouse that is providing the lip service is kind of bottling up their true emotions. This may seem very noble in our minds to do this, but it can lead us to developing a habit of not being totally honest with ourselves or our spouse. This takes away from deeper intimacy, where we can really express our true thoughts and emotions.
But not to worry. In this episode, we are going to talk about thinking outside the box and trying something new. We are going to challenge you to think of the little everyday things that get you grumpy during the week and to come up with a funny new way to approach it. Listen in as Nick and I share a personal example of how this happened for us and how it helped us reconnect... through "b!tch service" instead of lip service.
