Tonight we continue our series and explore the life of Lot, and discover that Lot made decisions that were rushed and ill-considered without consultation with God as to what God's thoughts were before going ahead.

What Lot lacked was the ability to trust God (in the process) with the next steps of his decision making which is what happens when one moves forward in their own strength.

Tonight we unpack the character of Jabez, who is referenced in 1 Chronicles 4:9-11.

In this passage, Jabez asks God to bless and affirm him, enlarge his territory; and let your hand guide him and keep him from pain.

Jabez turns his eyes to Jesus for a renewal experience...and God answers his prayers; and restores his faith and shows his goodness, and favour.

Why would God wrestle with Jacob? It could be that God chooses to engage Jacob in a way that is familiar to him. Jacob has been wresting, his brother, his father, Laban, and even God, all his life. He has done this because he has not believed that God would bless him, but now, in this struggle, he will not let go, unless he is blessed.
