Liquid SunShine Podcast - Inebriated Interviews with Vancouver's hip hop underground

Conversation takes off from where we last left off: with Juneten breaking down his time with the legendary crew 4th World Occupants, to stating which is the best Sun-Ra album for a beginner to start with, to him making beats with his little cousin, Hashbrown. June even steps behind the decks to give us a preview of the hot-to-death remix project he and Hashbrown have been working on. Archive and Sauce proceed with the usual struggle to stay focused and C-LO keeps doin the do, spinning the new-new. You know what it is...Liquid Sunshine, hops!

Conversation veers from K-Rec and Estea's latest release with Slow DJs, to where to get the best cup of tea in the city, to how Estea linked up with his Hip Hop soul-mate DJ K-Rec, in the first place. Estea busts rhymes on command for the majority of the interview, Archive breaks down his experience in Prince George and Sauce shits the bed by not asking the guest to bring music (Estea more than makes up for it, call it a happy mistake.) As always DJ C-LO holds this crazy train on the rails with his flawless, continuous mixing. Liquid Sunshine filling your ear-holes riiiiiiiight...NOW!!

Banter weaves from: playing in island-bred family funk bands, his group EhYo! and his new music, new name and why he's leaving to roam the continent in a van. As usual, there is a fat dollop of digression-diarrhea from the pissed up peanut gallery, and DJ C-LO is back on the wagon and bashing your brains with a big bank of bangers! Liquid Sunshine in your eyes, hops!

I'll admit it, the Liquid Sunshine Posse gets a little tipsy here as we chat with June about: growing up with a musical Dad and rapping at an obscenely early age, and we even get to talking a bit about some of June Ten's endeavours as a visual artist. All the while hee walks us through some great moments in Vancity Hip Hop history, such as who influenced him to freestyle (again at an incredibly early age) and some of the battles that he had along the way. Sauce and Archive do what they do and C-Lo holds this whole train on the rails with his trademark flawless mixing. There's too much stuff here for one episode, so stay tuned for a follow up. Liquid Sunshine y'all.

This time around the Sunshine boys chop it up with Van-City legend, the mutha effin man, Chadio. We get to hear how he once owned the morning freestyle sessions on 102.7 FM, how the incredible Imaginations Treetrunk collective came to be and whats coming in Chadio's ever growing discography of dope. Along the way the posse considers what would happen if "our" Chadio battled Brooklyn's Chadio (from the group, Cru,) and hear how Sauce may be getting stalked by his own old collection of Hustlers. We give shit away, butcher peoples names and get a bit tipsy. DJ C-Lo, as always, throws down the continuous ill mix, and brings you more of that new-new. Shout outs to Abort. It's Liquid Sunshine y'all.

we are back with Dj K-Rec getting seriously tipsy and going through the live and times of a Vancouver vet, he blesses up with a all self produced Dj set and gives us his history in the vancouver hip-hop and electronic scene, crack a cold one sit back and enjoy some Liquid Sunshine yalllz!!

We get to yabbering about Atty coming up battling from the Valley to Van, the gangster as eff creation of his name and rolling deep in the beautiful land of Castro's Cuba. Is this the first time the guest has out-drank the hosts? Attikus breaks down his history, rips up some phone-read new-new and busts wicked freebies. C-Lo's still diggin' up new heat and keeps it continuous. Liquid Sunshine.

Vancouver's king of raunchy raps breaks it down about body building, his life as a stand-up comedian, working at Camobear records, an upcoming album with Moka Only and their 10,000 Starz project and website. Listen as Archive over comes his hang-over, and Sauce does not. DJ C-Lo brings the un-matchable mix and the new new hits. Happy holidaze from the Liquid Sunshine Posse! See you in the New Year!!

We chop it up about the formation, and continuation, of one of Vancity's dopest crews, Imaginations Treetrunk, Azzy's five year experiment of writing rhymes in his head (no paper y'all!) and how he joined the ILL-Legitimate crew. Plus he busts some truly astounding verses over C-Lo's seemingly bottomless collection of beats. Archive gets cozy with a gangsta sized bottle of wine, and Sauce floats through the interview on a glorious cloud of cough medicine. C-Lo, of course, holds the crazy train together and keeps it spinning right 'round. This is Liquid Sunshine for your earhole.

Conversation swerves from how MC Hammer got a very young Spyte into hip hop, to personal struggles, to his intense time in KOTD, to what's poppin right now. We get blessed with 112 bars (give or take) of some rugged, OG shit and cap it all off with some basic, entertainment-based conspiracy rigamarole. Former guest Gorgeous Geordie even drops by for some fun. It's a party, baby! Jokes abound and drinks are downed, C-LO keeps the records going 'round. This is some ill shit.
