Lisa Barkan, originally from New Jersey, has been living in Jerusalem
since her Aliyah 30 years ago. A serial social entrepreneur since her
first trip to Israel in 1983, Lisa has over 30 years of experience in high
tech and non-profit marketing and project development/management.
After working in Israel/Zionist activism, Lisa served in the Foreign
Investors Department, JDA recruiting technology companies to
Jerusalem’s technology parks. She then worked marketing high tech
companies until creating her own company providing marketing
services to both the profit and non-profit sectors.
She created Jerusalem Village in July 2010 after recognizing that young
Jewish adults arriving to the city needed opportunities to meet and
engage with their Israeli peers. Today Jerusalem Village has completed
a five-year strategic plan positioning the city to provide the global
young adult community with introductions, conversational dinners and
a warm welcome to the city.
Lisa is a passionate advocate for Jerusalem as a living and vibrant center
for the Jewish people and looks to the future of the city with optimism,
passion and appreciation of the rich heritage, diversity and challenges
the city presents. She is married and has five children between the ages
20 to 25, loves to cook and host, and is married to a Star Trek fan
making her a new trekkie.
