    Language: English

    Summary:

    One small handwritten letter,

Sent from a dark, remote corner of the planet,

And lost in the system for sixty years,

Is about to change the entire human race.

Outside Denver, Colorado, Joe Rickards stands over a small aircraft wreckage, studying burnt remains still smoldering in a field of freshly fallen snow...an investigator for the NTSB, working to carefully roll back the last several hours and identify the cause of the accident.

    But this time, he can't.

The details behind this tragedy don't add up. Unlike every other investigation of Joe's career, the facts make no sense. Each new piece of information only makes the accident more mysterious, and more baffling.

Why would a person receive an age-old letter and suddenly disappear into the thick of night...paying to be flown out of a closed airport in the worst possible weather conditions, by a pilot who hadn't had his hand on the stick in years?

With the only surviving relative insisting her grandfather would never have climbed into a small airplane in the first place, even in perfect weather.

A bizarre string of events culminating in a horrible accident unlike anything Rickards has experienced. Leaving his only hope at understanding it in the hands of the victim's sole remaining relative. Beginning with how a mysterious letter could turn up after being lost in the system for sixty years. Sent by someone who should have already been long dead.

A single letter, Joe Rickards is about to discover, with a secret that will change the entire world.

    Title: Gospel of Wealth

    Length: 00:39:35

    Language: English

    Release date: 06-02-20

    Publisher: Authors Republic

Genres: Business & Economics, HR & Office Administration

    Summary:

Andrew Carnegie, an immigrant from Dunfermline, Scotland with only a grammar-school education, amassed a fortune in the steel industry the 1800s to become the richest American in history. Yet Carnegie believed strongly that the wealthy should live modestly, without ostentation, and devote their energies after achieving wealth to finding ways to invest their surplus wealth in ways that benefit the public. Historically, private fortunes were handed down to heirs, with bequests to the state for public purposes as well. Carnegie observed that fortunes were often squandered in self-indulgent extravagance and irresponsible spending and felt such funds would be better put to use to help the poor help themselves and reduce the stratification of the classes. He favored a system of progressive inheritance taxes to help facilitate this distribution, but also felt the best results would be achieved when those that had made the fortunes turned their attention to investing their capital in charitable enterprises that they controlled and even managed. He initially published his controversial ideas in the North American Review 1880 in an article entitled Wealth. It was later re-titled The Gospel of Wealth and published in the Pall Mall Gazette in 1889. It has become the foundation document that sets forth much of the thinking behind philanthropy since his time. It has been called the urtext of modern philanthropy by Benjamin Soskis, a historian of philanthropy. The article appears here in two versions. The first is a new reading by D. S. Harvey and the second is recording of Carnegie himself.

    Genres: Fiction & Literature, Classics

    Summary:

The Seven Poor Travellers takes place on Christmas Eve in Rochester at the charity hospice founded in 1579 by Richard Watts - an actual hospice that Dickens knew well from his childhood days. According to Watts' will, his hospice was to supply six poor travelers (providing they were not rogues or proctors) with one night's free lodging and entertainment and with fourpence. In the opening section of The Seven Poor Travellers, entitled 'The First,' the narrator - he brings the travelers up to seven - describes the charity, its procedures, its lapses, and its six clients. Dissatisfied by the scanty charity fare, the narrator provides food and wassail for his companions, and then goes on to tell a story, suggesting that the other guests do likewise. The next six sections are given over to the six stories told by the travelers. In the final section, as the Christmas day dawns, the narrator takes leave of his companions and walks up to London and his home.

    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity

    Summary:

The miracle, before you, came to be because of faith and the hard work behind that faith. The early settlers to the New World, with hope and determination, laid the foundation of what you see, when you visit the awesome Cap-de-la-Madeleine.

But let us begin at the beginning. The French government sent missionaries and explorers to the New World. In 1534, Jacques Cartier took possession of territory and called it New France in the name of the King of France. However, the founding of a permanent colony was not to come about until 1608, when Samuel de Champlain opened a relay station in Québec.

Now, Cap-de-la-Madeleine, at that time, was just a sandy strip of land. But to the Jesuits who received it from a fellow Jesuit, the Pastor of Sainte Marie Madeleine in France, it was a little bit of heaven. He only made one provision, the land would be used for evangelization. No sooner done, on September 8, 1635, Cap-de-la-Madeleine was to receive its first missionary, Father Jacques Buteux, a Jesuit. The tiny handful of settlers and the American Indians were to hear the Gospel of our Lord preached by Father, until a few years later, when he was martyred by the Iroquois Indians, on May 10, 1652.
