Question for this conversation: Why is there spiritual apathy happening with students who grew up in the church?

Stephanie sat down with Jay Leibold to discuss the lack of zeal for the Lord often seen with students who grew up in the church.

Jay started following Jesus towards the end of high school and when he came as a freshman to UNT in 2010. The Lord led him to the BSM where his faith and knowledge of God grew tremendously. He was very involved with the BSM all throughout his time at UNT, leading Bible studies, doing evangelism, and serving as a student leader. When he graduated in 2014, he joined the UNT BSM staff and served for two years from 2014-2016.

Jay met his wife, Elise, at the BSM and they got married in 2015. With a heart for the nations, they moved to Nairobi, Kenya with the International Mission Board in 2016 and served in the 2-year Journeyman program. Their main role was serving at the University of Nairobi using the things they had both learned at the UNT BSM.

Now that they are back, Jay is serving at the BSM again, hoping to serve UNT students and the churches in Denton. Jay is excited to pour into students and is praying that God would move powerfully in their lives and that they would realize true life and fulfillment only come through Jesus. Jay hopes that they understand that as believers we are called by God to know Him which then leads to us making Him know through word and deed.
