My favorite russian book!

wrong line breaks.

This is text in russian where almost all line breaks are wrong. I think that someone converted the txt file to e-book. And linebreakes transforms to ends of paragraph. It is very hard to read this text.

Performer inadequate

What did you like best about Psychology of the Unconscious? What did you like least?

Read this book many years ago - had hoped to revisit via Audible, but found the performer's reading to be very tedious.

What didnt you like about Robert Bethunes performance?

Nasal, high-pitched, and emotionally flat. Reminded me of some college lectures where I was turning to people in class pleading with them to 'shoot me now'.

Was Psychology of the Unconscious worth the listening time?

Would love to see other title from Jung's Collected Works on Audible, but obviously with a different performer.

AWFUL!

What did you like about this audiobook?

As a student of Depth Psychology with a commute, I was looking forward to getting to dive into additional works of Jung. Jung's writing is complex and a bit obtuse to begin with (at least his early works, IMHO). In this course, they have a male who sounds like a victorian butler whose performance makes this course almost entirely UN-LISTENABLE. LOVE JUNG -- but had to return this book -- AWFUL!!

Started off a bit hard to listen to. Because of performance sounding monotone. With the dense material. But it makes more sense. When it get to story/poem analogous. Then you start to understand. Why it done that way.

Great Celtic stories

this is a great work, it is a longer and a different tales style from many of the stories you have heard if you are a Lister to Irish tales. I would recommend it

Beautiful poetic stories, authentic narration

Very enjoyable listen. Had no previous knowledge of Irish myth, and this book has everything I was hoping for. Beautiful prose, interesting stories, and reader's accent brought it all together to be a book I'll come back to just to enjoy a story and the telling that borders on poetry, an unexpected bonus (not really a poetry guy, didn't think so at least).

I'd buy 20 more stories

Needs more Diarmuid of the Gay Face, one of Irelands most underrated characters, with stories of witches, demons and magic spears; but the selected stories were awesome.

Kevin Stillwell does an incredible job of performing the stories, adding a sense of mysticism and wonder to all, paired with perfect pronunciation made this one of the most enjoyable anthologies I've heard.

If they teamed up to release another compilation, it would be an insta-buy for me.

Wonderfully read, but most tales not for kids

What did you love best about Household Tales by Brothers Grimm?

The narration is great! Kelly Lintz does a fantastic job bringing the characters to life without self-conscious cleverness. A pleasure to listen to.

Would you recommend Household Tales by Brothers Grimm to your friends? Why or why not?

After my children, age 5 and 7, enjoyed a nighttime reading of Rapunzel I bought this for some after-dark story time. I knew Grimm's Tales could be dark, but many are so gruesome that I have to preview and take notes before I can listen to them with my children. Many of the stories are variations on the same theme so it often feels like you've heard the stories before. (Children lost in the woods, evil step-mothers, beautiful maiden marries wealthy king, etc.) I'm glad I've been able to offer my children a different viewpoint of the folk tales than the Disney version most have grown up with and introduce them to real literature. The re-telling of these folk tales do a suprisingly good job painting a picture in the listener's head.

What does Kelly Lintz bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I have maybe five "characters" in my bedtime story repertoire, many of which make my throat itch after a few pages. Lintz has, seemingly, hundreds which she transitions from one to another without skipping a beat.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. 22+ hours of folk tales. I doubt I'll ever get through them all.

Very good story, a good read for anyone.

I had to read this book for a literature class that I'm currently attending, but it turned out to be pretty good. The author does a great job of making someone feel many different meanings within the book. After a discussion in class it was amazing the number of differing viewpoints and what we took away from this read. Overall a good classic read.

Horrible performance

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would NOT recommend this recording. I love this story, but this particular performance is so bad I can't even finish a two hour book. Perhaps the audio editing is to blame, but it's extremely obvious that they cut out all the pauses and, in turn, the text is just one huge run-on sentence! There are no breaths, breaks or pauses. It's exhausting to listen to.

The words and story are phenomenal. This edition/recording is horrible.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

There is odd emphasis on the wrong words, and all the breaks, breaths and pauses have been removed. The beginning of the book is great, but from about 45 mins on, the whole story is a run-on sentence and you can't follow what is happening anymore.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Absolutely.
