Publisher's Summary:
A quantum leap in mindful revolution - the new frontier of Self - breaking through to the inner core of consciousness - finding the deeper Self
In part this is about counter-hypnosis, a first step toward the complete integration of Self. Great awareness will eliminate the inevitable hypnotic fog of everyday life, and thereby empowers the Seeker in a foundational way. Excellence in problem-solving can still be achieved, whether psychological, relationship, family, vocational, and yes, even political.
Understanding this breakthrough will provide each person a more direct access to Essence - which is a necessity and a requirement - to stand your ground emotionally, to discern authority typology, to defuse and deflate bullies, to cut through the fog and see clearly the social, vocational, family obfuscation and turmoil, and to transcend all of these.
A doctor and 24 pioneers discover an inner resource full of radiance and wisdom. It responds to all their questions asked. The remarkable findings challenge current notions about who we are. Twenty-four inquiries reach the core of equanimity and a magnificent awareness. This connection revitalizes their lives, and ours.

An academic neurologist's viewpoint of SSV
As an academic neurologist, I typically do not have much time for "pleasure reading" and so when I discovered Dr. Brickman's book, The Still Soft Voice -- a striking title -- I decided to give it a try. Again, being time-sensitive, I skipped the forward/intro pages, and jumped right into the meat of the book, turning to page 116 randomly, where we find intense dialogue between Dr. Brickman and his patient "Katrina" -- an anxious, insecure individual, obsessed with worrying and rumination, who has turned to Dr. Brickman for help. In a calm, civil, and caring manner that is also hard-hitting and instinctual, Dr. Brickman delicately excises the malignant doubt from Katrina's fretted mind (in an almost surgically tailored approach) and then gently instructs this poor soul to listen to her own brain's Still Soft Voice, her inner core that she had been ignoring and replacing with others' misguided ideas, and recognize/re-discover her own self. Revelations are made with her and the other 20+ patients in the book, in different chapters, as Dr. Brickman focuses on each one's inner being through the fascinating art of hypnosis therapy.
Now that you know what the book is about, I'll tell you what the book is not about. It is not about a rodomontade, bumptious mental-health professional waxing upon esoteric theories, nor is it a psychoanalytic treatise that some sycophant designed to please clients. It seems the purpose of Dr. Brickman's book is to describe the unique technique in real-time and how it can lead to positive results via facilitating each patient's journey towards reaching their own inner core. I like it because it is real, it is conversational, and as an author of the book "Laughing Your Way to Passing the Neurology Boards" I appreciate colloquialisms, mnemonics, and outside-the-box thinkers -- especially in the neuroscience fields.
Reaching each patient's inner core and talking directly to that Voice is not enough for Dr. Brickman -- he also guides his patients on how to l-i-s-t-e-n to it, a simple task so easily overlooked by all of us at various stages in our lives.
