good deal

Ive listened to this a couple of times and it's pretty good. Arabic words and phrases are repeated several times by both M and F narrators. However it's still hard to learn the sentences because they can be quite long. Topics include colors/shopping/dining out. Compared to Japanese ... Arabic's very difficult and none of my materials have helped me get a strong grasp.

It's ok - but try to ignore the learner's voice

What did you love best about Rapid Cantonese, Volume 1?

It teaches you some useful phrases in Cantonese in a short space of time. The music makes it less arduous than the Pimsleur method, however you obviously learn more with the latter (especially as there's only one unit of Rapid Cantonese!).

What three words best describe the narratorss voice?

Teacher: Good. Learner: Appalling.

Any additional comments?

Seriously, the man "learning" has a horrendous accent in Cantonese, and his so-called cues to help him remember words only reinforce bad pronunciation. Just focus on her!

Reasonable course, occasional music mismatch

The content and presentation of this course is reasonable, although the music underscore sometimes gets a little funky and isn't always well matched to the spoken word. It can become irritating listening over and over, as you need to be able to do for long-term recall.

Very easy to learn

This, like many earworms learning audio products is very easy to understand and learn.

Through repetition and light NLP, I was able to quickly pick up phrases, even after one run through, which is about the right length of time for beginners. You'll understand pronunciations and how to ask questions such as directions, order drinks and food, and general help; great for first timers where the pace is also just right; not too fast or too slow.

A great way to learn the Cantonese language

I have been listening to this in my car for 2 weeks, 2 hours a day. It's an amazing technique for remembering the phrases introduced. I have found that the music really helps with both the memory and the important intonation. I have learned about 40 phases so far and how to count. I thoroughly recommend it and will definitely purchase Vol 2 which is due in Feb 2011. - Martin, Sydney, Australia

Learner annoying but enjoyable

Found this very useful as have been dabbling in Cantonese for many years but never got anywhere and I am a slow learner, but with this im remembering the Cantonese, yeah the music is boring and the learner is annoying at time but just ignore him
