This was purchased for my grandson as a surprise. He loved it! Besides providing information on different "grossology" topics, the book provides recipes for interesting things such as fake blood and edible dog poo. As a 9 year old boy, life doesn't get much better than pranking one's family with edible dog poo!!! While we only tried one of the recipes, the results of the dog poo was tasty and looked similar to its name. The book is an easy read for 7 year olds or older. The areas in the book hold kids' interest and provide interesting examples.

My 7 year old LOVES to read anything and everything with interesting facts! He has read all the "scariest, disgusting, dangerous, amazing" books so I was so happy to find something else along those lines... He has read this one cover to cover multiple time and come on, who doesn't love grossology! ;)

Sure makes a good read and great gift for young men

Son (age 16), and grandsons have been thoroughly enjoying reading through this book. Even though our daughter and granddaughters might not want to admit it - we've seen them laughing and reading through the book, too! Be your own best friend.

One type of reader this book is great for are those who have great imaginings but very few friends for whatever reason. Through this book, we learn we can be our own best friend through self-love and self-awareness. It would also be great for introverts and people with chronic illness or sadness. The main character seems to believe it's possible to be alone without lonely, and I like that.

For young and old

Positive messages without the schmaltz of other feelsy books. I wanted the art to be a bit more jujjed than it was, but the message trumped that. Great for kids, young and old. Because sometimes someone you love needs a colorful boost.

This book isn't a book about ego, it is an amazing "teachable moment!" It is very basic and very short. Unfortunetally, I think anything above 2nd grade is pushing it but that's not to say it can't be used in a less direct way with older grades. The cute pic loves her "round tummy," but takes care of herself by brushing her teeth and eating healthy etc. She picks herself up when she falls, cheers herself up when she's sad, and tries again when she makes mistakes. The ONLY thing missing is something about not caring about what other people think. I still highly recommend this book for all teachers and parents!!

Terrible print job

So I love this book and I was so excited to get a copy for my daughter, but I'm so disappointed in the quality of the book itself. Several of the pages never perforated at the top, and I had to tear them apart myself, leaving weird, raggedy tops. The back cover looks like it was printed in the wrong orientation, which is less of a big deal, but still weird. What happened here, Puffin? You're better than this.

We've read them all!

While a good read, this is my least favorite title in the Wright On Time series. One of the things we love about unschooling, and these books, is that we find learning everywhere...and Cottrell-Bentley usually does a great job filling these novels with all kinds of interesting tidbits and info. I appreciate her throwing the food angle in this book, it just didn't have quite the adventure feeling of her previous titles. With that said, we do love her books and will keep on reading them thru all 50 states!

Perfect book for October/Halloween

I didn't realize the font would be so small. I got this for my father who has not so great eyes. He complained that the story of the princess and the pea was shorter than expected (3 paragraphs) but there's a ton of stories he can read instead. The illustrations are quite nice.

dense small font, all main tales there - great for references, not so many pics

I wish the producers of Frozen read Anderson and passed the spirit of his tales to their cartoon. He was a great psychologist and most of his tales are not focused on love stories (unlike majorities of tales around the world). His tales are an exploration of human types and are about learning experience. The book is very dense with material, small font, the pictures are b/w, not many of them, so it is mostly for those who want text, and not pictures, and not for young kids. It was great for me, to keep it as a reference, and maybe to ready to grand-kids.

One of the Best Free eBooks for Kindle I've Run Across

When I downloaded this ebook, I was very pleasantly surprised. First, the description above is not very accurate. There are many more than 12 stories in this generous collection, though I haven't counted exactly how many. Second, there is a hyperlinked table of contents for instant access to any of the stories, unlike many of the free ebooks I've seen. Finally, the text appears to be clean (not filled with obvious typos), and the presentation is good. This is undoubtedly one of the best free ebooks for the Kindle I've seen. It's an excellent value and highly recommended.

Terrible audiobook. Painful to listen to. Bad acting, bad choices, heavy breathing. Shrill thick flat.

Holy moly this is the worst voiceover I ever heard. Its really bad. Its so bad that its funny. You can hear the narrator breath between sentences like she is winded from walking a flight of stairs. Bad acting, and a heavy voice. She doesn't sound like a princess she sounds like a waffle waitress at a really scary truck stop. Which makes it impossible to think of anything nice.

I can't believe this one manly voice (the narrator does the princess and the king in the same breath!) is supposed to be a delicate young female. The voice sounds like a waffle waitress or maybe even a factory line worker. But not feminine in the slightest. Is there chewing in the background? Do you want fries with that, princess?! Narrator would be better suited to work on Big Momma's House, the audiobook.
