Length: 2 hrs and 52 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-04-17
    Publisher: Patricia M. Robertson
Genres: Self Development, Motivation & Inspiration
    Publisher's Summary:
The faces of grief are as varied as the different people involved. Each grief is unique and personal to that individual. Yet, given that, there are ways we can help others walk through this journey to new life. All of us experience grief at different times throughout our life. We grieve because we have loved. Robertson's book helps family members deal with losses in their life. While it focuses on the loss of a loved one, other losses are also explored, including divorce, loss of employment, loss of a home, loss of a limb, and loss of a pet. It is a valuable resource for ministers, counselors, lay people, and anyone who is dealing with loss or wants to help others through loss. Patricia Robertson has a doctor of ministry and over 35 years' experience in ministry. During this time she has helped many families find healing after loss. She is an author, speaker, and spiritual director who is committed to helping individuals find God in their everyday experience, including times of grief and loss. Walking with Families Through Grief is a companion book to Walking with Families Through the Dying Process. Both are excellent resources for anyone dealing with death, dying, and grief.

ME, READ A BOOK ON GRIEF?! YES!
A few weeks ago, as I took a leisurely read-through of Patricia Robertson's "Walking With Families Through Grief," I was simultaneously living out some of the chapters in the book. Our daughter has Stage IV breast cancer. While you are not always ready to read a book on grief as you grieve, I was surprised by my own reaction. The book was a helpful guide through much of what we were experiencing (and will continue to, since Stage IV cancer can exact its toll over years of time). Here is some of what I wrote to Pat after finishing the book: "Since I am living through much of what you write, this was a challenge emotionally, which is good. I drew from it some helpful insights. When you suffer through a prolonged, or delayed, loss, you find yourself grieving in ways you do not always comprehend. You donât always understand your own body and its complex processing of grief. So it is important to stay in touch emotionally with what is happening. Youâve read widely, drawn from others content that is beneficial, and there is much that tugs at the emotional heartstrings." Make no assumptions here. The book is not one-dimensional. It deals with losses beyond those we typically think of - the death of a loved one. Had you ever thought of how it might be to grieve the loss of a limb? Of a home? A job? Grief cuts through many experiences in life, and the book has so much wisdom and insight, it probably will help you in ways you cannot anticipate - until you read it. Go thou and do likewise, is this reader's counsel.
    Comprehensive Guide
This is a very thorough exploration of the many faces and phases of grief. Most humans have experienced loss in their lifetime, whether of a pet, a job, or a family member. This book focuses on interpersonal relationships, and the varieties of feelings and situations that people might find themselves in while dealing with a loss.

    Language: English
    Release date: 08-24-17

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
Genres: Self Development, Motivation & Inspiration
    Publisher's Summary:
'Just imagine if we, the normal girls, stood united as an enormous, hysterical and proud army. We would be unstoppable.'
Read with gumption, fearlessness and sharp wit, Can I Speak to Someone in Charge? is a window into the ridiculous ideologies and the absurd expectations that shape the lives of modern women.
In a series of open letters, Emily Clarkson addresses all manner of subjects, from body hair to Facebook friends to the perils of wearing Lycra. She unpicks the validity of notions such as 'the thigh gap'; questions the quotidian scrutiny by the media; ponders the etymology of the term 'plus size'; and considers our unshakeable obsession with dieting, while wondering why some of us are still crying in changing rooms.
Full of vital life lessons, outrageous confessions and poignant reflections, Can I Speak to Someone in Charge? is a love letter to women everywhere; reminding us that being strong, being kind and being yourself is really what 'normal' should be.
'Being asked to write a book was probably the best thing that's happened to me - up until that point I was gravely concerned that my mum was the only person reading my blog. I hope this book will speak to a range of women, and men actually. I hope it will make people laugh, but more importantly I hope it will open people's eyes to the fact that we've got a lot to do if we want to make growing up in a good and kind world a possibility for our daughters.' (Emily Clarkson)
    Critic Reviews:
"A fresh, modern take on feminism and life from one of the most compelling voices of her generation." (Jane Moore)
"A stirring call to action." (Katie Spicer)

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 7 votes
Genres: Self Development, Motivation & Inspiration
    Publisher's Summary:
Most of us think that the key to happiness and fulfillment is having more money, greater career success, or a loving relationship or family. Yet even when we achieve these goals, we ultimately still find ourselves not fully satisfied or happy, and in an endless cycle of wanting more or something different. Why is this? As noted psychiatrist Dr. Shelley Uram tells us, when we peel back the layers to reveal what we really want most in life, it turns out to be the qualities that are already present at our very core - our essential self. They include peace, joy, love, a sense of freedom, and a sense of connectedness. However, until we reconnect with our essential self, most people do not remember who they are at their very core.
In Essential Living, Dr. Uram explains how our ancient survival brain mechanisms short-circuit our connection to our Essential Self, starting when we are young children, which ultimately leads us away from who we really are and down a path of unnecessary suffering. She then provides listeners with self-assessment exercises, frameworks, and tools to chart a personalized return to the essential self. By learning how to quiet the ancient survival brain and reclaim our essence, we can discover an unlimited wellspring of what will truly sustain and fulfill us.

    Shelley Uram rocks!
I discovered Shelley when I saw her speak at a Meadows Behavioral Health-sponsored seminar called, Meet the Masters. I treat childhood trauma as a therapist and this book offers so much understanding and provides helpful tools, insights and resources to learn more. My only complaint is that Shelley should have read the audio book herself. I longed to hear HER voice explaining this information.

The challenge with most books is, although they communicate a lot of great information, they are ultimately incomplete. A motivational program will primarily focus on motivation. A time management program will primarily focus on time management. This program is intended to bring together all of those loose ends so you have one complete step-by-step guide to greatness.
